Dude Everclear just broke up too.
Damn who's next?
Asta!! |
Everclear broke up?
Thats a damn shame. I haven't liked much of their latest stuff, but I thought So Much For The Afterglow was brilliant. |
My sentiments exactly.
Asta!! |
I thought they were gonna break up a long time ago. Their lead singer was an asshole and he was abusive to fans. I dont understand how his guys could hang in back of him.
Ok music... it got a little sappy at times... they were alternative's non-vulgar eminem (even though they came first) |
Art Alexakis is the nicest guy I've ever seen/kinda met. He went on with his solo tour show even though he had a cold and he stayed around and hung out with all of us afterwards. And on this last tour of theirs, they all hung out with a bunch of fans in the back.
I may have a largely skewed view though, as they are my favorite band ever. And Sparkle and Fade is their best album if you wanna take a listen. Their new stuff was nowhere near up to the par set by S&F and SMftA. *sigh* |
Shitty.. I really liked their stuff. SMftA and Songs (Part 1 and 2) were my faves.
|
That's too bad...I liked most all of their stuff. Their music wasn't too edgy, but it was still fun to listen to.
|
damn...that's a shame. but it's alright, i guess, i really loved their older stuff but newer stuff just wasn't nearly as good. i still listen to sparkle and fade and some much for the afterglow on a consistent basis. great music. on weird sidenote, i live in the portland area, and my friends and i emailed art about the "big house way up in the west hills" and he said that it actually exists, and he gave us the address and we went and saw it. :)
|
So the house way up in the west hills is in Oregon? I was hoping for West Hills southern California.
And on some other notes of songs: Summerland is down here in California and one day I'll stop by. I still wanna know what the deal with Nehalem is, some city up in Oregon I believe. |
I hate when bands fucking break up but maybe they will form a uber band like audioslave or something
|
I was never really a fan so it's no big deal to me.
|
I'm a big fan of Everclear and always had a good time when I saw them live. The song Santa Monica is one of those songs that remind me of a very memorable moment in my life, so I always get that warm, fuzy feeling whenever I hear it. But, other than that I liked much of their other stuff. I'm sad to hear thye've broken up.
|
Clarkster, yeah, the west hills are what separates my valley from the valley Portland is in, all the rich people live up there, and you can get lost for hours, makes for some damn good driving. and Nehalem is a town in Oregon, a really podunk town, dunno what could have inspired him to use it.
|
Damn. I wanted to be more of a part of EverClear songs. At least I've got Summerland still.
"Just a name on the map, sounds like heaven to me." And Jadey, you get that warm fuzzy feeling partly because Santa Monica is the best song ever. |
Halx, i would like to know why you think Art is such an asshole. I have seen them live before, i can vouch for what others say about him being outgoing to the fans. Hell, from what I hear from my best friend who has been to a few shows, he always pulls people up on stage and let them sing with him
|
good. they're a shame to portland. :D
|
Oh man what a shame, we will no longer hear about his troubles growing up in everysong.
|
I love that song Santa Monica. It's just so damn good! One of those songs that you just have to sing loudly to. It always reminds me of summer....
|
Dang, I haven't heard much of them b ut I liked what I heard

I have one thing to say: YAY!
|
In Atlanta last night doing a solo show, Art Alexis said the band has not broken up, though he is taking a year or two off to record a solo project.
You know, kinda like Beyonce and Destiny's Child. (Mental image of Art Alexis and Beyonce fused together in brain. Must go gouge out eyes.) |
Well thats comforting. I bet Art & the band were pretty madd at MTV for releasing that information on the public without them specifying upon it.
Asta!! |
everclear are a crappy band, art is a wuss, both times i saw them he pissed and moaned about people who flipped him off in the crowd and how he wouldnt play anymore until that person go kicked out. i have nothing against their music actually, but art as a person is a huge ass
|
Wow, if what battlemouth says is true, I've lost a lot of respect for Everclear, who back in the "World of Noise" and "Sparkle and Fade" days were my favorite band. I'll agree what most people are saying on this thread though, their newer stuff has just been terrible. I mean c'mon, Volvo driving Soccer Mom? That song made me kind of wish they'd have broken up after SMFTA.
Oh well, bands can't stay good forever. |
Dang what a lil sissy lol "security that man just flicked me off kick him out" lol lots of bands have been breaking up.
|
Who knows if they are actually broken up. Nobody stays broken up nowadays unless there is no money in staying together anyway...
I am sure Art has his good days and his bad, I have seen them on two ocasions and the second time I saw them was in Reno, NV and he pulled a bunch of fans onto the stage. He started yelling at this one girl calling her a whore, a bitch, and other names along those lines. I have no clue why he started to do this, and she seemed really hurt and ashamed by it. I don't know if it was something I missed or what, but it left a very bad taste in my mouth. I too have some very fond memories of the Sparkle and Fade album and loved Summerland and Santa Monica. Used to listen to that all the time in High School. |
That's really too bad... they used to be EXCELLENT (So Much for the Afterglow was an outstanding album cept for that Father of Mine song)... trailed off later but even still...
Seems like right about now is just THE TIME for band breakups. I can think of 3 off the top of my head just from past weeks: Fairweather, the Movielife, H20... I know there were rumors about Glassjaw (my favorite band EVER) but those proved to be false... It's almost like a bug going around... kinda like how about half the damn famous people in the world died off last month and in late August. Guess there's nothing you can do about it, though... EDIT: Forgot to mention that Shai Halud broke up too and also that there's this rumor about NOFX possibly splitting. |
Rumors of NOFX splitting? Any updates?!
Gawd, I hope Everclear didn't really break up. As corny as it sounds, So Much For The Afterglow was the soundtrack for my first few years of highschool. It's the music that I'll look back on when I'm older, and be able to remember my first kiss, the moment I bought my truck, and the most emotionally painful, yet beautiful, summer of my life. If they did break up, I greatly regret that I never saw them live. |

Ahh, I always figured that'd be a hellacious show! Sooo, are they broken up? None of the Everclear sites are working/updated. But, as far as I can tell, there's been some activity as recently as like spring of '03. KWSN: If they haven't broken up, I WILL make it to one of their shows. This makes me realize how much I need to go see them live. |

And as far as Shai Hulud .. I havent heard either way really, www.lambgoat.com usually has all the news on bands... Quote:

I really like them, but all the news that I have gotten about this, it seems that art has left the door open for a return, but Craig (bass) wants to start a metal band and Greg (drums) wants to spend time with his family. It is a shame that they broke up, but the last 3 albums haven’t been too good. I will agree that So Much for the Afterglow and Sparkle and Fade were excellent albums.
As for art being an asshole. It seems like he could. I've seen them live 4 times and met them once, and he seemed from when I met him, he could be a dick. I don’t know though. Everclear might be better with Art in full control of everything, with new people and all. A solo album should be expected, but I’m not sure about it. |
I loved a lot of their CDs, but I saw them in concert in May and I thought they were horrible. The music didn't translate well live at all, and having Art Alexakis tell us all that we fucking sucked wasn't that appealing.
|
Shame they broke up..... But then stuff like that happens at times...right? Maybe we'll get a few new bands out of it...
|
HA!
|
Hallelujah!!
