I've actually seen this album around some music blogs that I frequent and have been slightly curious.

In terms of popular music, the only one I'm really into is Classic Rock (I don't really consider Jazz or Classical popular music anymore), but Indie is starting to intrigue me, so seeing that Wu Tang is doing something with it, if I hear many good reviews, I'll no doubt get it.

I got one track, preservation from a mp3 blog a couple weeks ago. I like the loop they sampled in the back of the record. I look forward to listen to the rest of the album.

It's not really "indie music" like the bands you might be thinking of, it's unknown/underground rappers.

Track list...

1. Introduction
2. Lyrical Swords - Ras Kass & GZA
3. Slow Blues - Vast Aire (of Cannibal Ox), Byata, Timbo King & Prodigal Sunn
4. Still Grimey - U-God, Sean Price, Prodigal Sunn & C-Rayz Walz
5. Skit
6. Think Differently - Casual, Tragedy Khadafi, Rock Marciano & Vordul Mega (of Cannibal Ox)
7. Informercial #1
8. Biochemical Equation - RZA & MF Doom
9. O.D.B. Tribute - DJ Noize
10. Fragments - Del Tha Funky Homosapien
11. Intermission
12. Street Corners - Bronze Nazareth, Soloman Childs & Byata
13. Listen - Littles, Khalid & Planet Asia
14. Infomercial #2
15. Verses - Scaramanga Shallah, La The Darkman, Ras Kass & GZA
16. Preservation - Aesop Rock & Del Tha Funky Homosapien
17. Cars on the Interstate - C.C.F. Division (Shacronz & Freemurda)
18. Give It Up - J-Live & R.A. The Rugged Man
19. Black Dawn - Bronze Nazareth

That said, there are some awesome tracks on it. RZA and MF Doom?!? Just outstanding! Aesop Rock and Del Tha Funky Homosapien... WOW!

I actually bought this album, and I'm glad I did because it's totally worth the cash. Also, I couldn't find it for download, but that's beside the point.

No one should download this one. Support the Wu. It's definitely worth the cash. Solid album.

good question, i'm not completely sure. the artists are slightly less mainstream...perhaps that's it.

i heard it a few months ago and was a little underwhelmed. i didn't think there was anything particularly wrong with it, i just didn't feel compelled to listen to it repeatedly.

I suspect it's indie in the traditional sense - ie, not on a major record label. That's just a guess, as I don't think I've come across it anywhere yet. Given the tight budget I'm on these days I'm not spending nearly as much time as I'd like in the local record shops.

Underground emcees are the same thing as "indie rock" except it's rap. Just basically means artists who are well known but under the radar.

So have you heard the new Ghostface? Has 4 Doom tracks, think it's got a few J-Dilla tracks... Ghostface doesn't seem to lose anything with different producers than his usual obvious choice.

Had it for a little over a week, and it's outstanding! I don't like the first song, but outside of that, I let it go all the way through.

anyone who uses the term "indie" as a genre is an idiot. those tight shirts must be cutting of the circulation to the brain.
