im thinking about getting blood on the tracks, i love idiot wind but yea, does anyone know about his albums? |
I'm not much of a Dylan fan but I did somehow end up with Blood on the Tracks on Vinyl...and you know what....it was awful! I'm sure there are better albums to start off with.
Bob Dylan is something that I will never understand. I like a few songs, but thats about it. |
beck vs. dylan
i was telling one of my folkie buds http://www.rdroth.com that i was trippin' on beck's newish disc, sea change , saying how it was the best breakup album EVER & he said, "dude, you have obviously never heard blood on the tracks ," and he was right. i picked it up & found it unlistenable.

Bob Dylan is awesome...i really like some of his songs like Hurricane, The Man in Me, Stuck in the Middle, Blowin in the Wind, and many others

Anyways, I think "Blood on the Tracks" is an absolute masterpiece. The melodies, the flow, the lyrics are near impeccable. There are a lot of albums that have no bad songs on them. Well this is one of a handful of albums that doesn't have one bad measure on it. From "Tangled up in blue" to the melodramatic "Buckets of Rain" the album just displays Dylan's true artistic self. I think this album is a must for any Dylan fan. Some other of my favorite Dylan albums are "Blonde on Blonde", "Bringing it all back home", "Desire", and "Nashville Skyline." |
i only have a bit of dylan, but one i really like is "don't think twice, it's alright". great song.

If you're serious about this, PM me. I could call up my girlfriend and she'd be able to pass on some good information about him ;)

If you like just about any kind of music today...you like Bob Dylan. He's influenced more artists and styles of music than you could shake a zillion sticks at. He is the MAN.
"Blood on the Tracks" is a perfect album. You will probably not find any other album with so much emotion, great melodies, and just great everything than on "Blood on the Tracks". Though, I can understand people not 'getting it'. The best Dylan album to start with would probably be the first Greatest Hits album. From there, "Brining it All Back Home"and "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" would be good. |
Man, "Blood On The Tracks" is a classic and it came at a painful time in his life when he was divorcing his wife. "Tangled Up In Blue" is like a painting but in the form of a song.
You must get "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" which is his second album and has not only "Blowing In The Wind" but "Hard Rain" and some really funny songs, funny in their satire of life in America in 1962. There are hauntingly serious songs there too like "Masters Of War" and Oxford Town" , the former dealing with the arms race the latter dealing with murder to Civil Rights' workers. A beautiful album. Dylans last two albums are classics already, "Time Out Of Mind" and "Love And Theft". Check those out. |
Dylan has a great ability to adapt to different sounds and make them his own. Check out "Nashville Skyline" to hear some country stuff.
|
If youre looking to get into dylan try picking up the Dylan bootlegs. I have 1-3 and it's a great mix of dylan through the years.
|
if you're trying to get into dylan start from the beginning and work your way up through to at least about slow train coming. i think it's necessary to follow bob's evolution into what he is today. which although entirely different is still some of the best music i've ever heard.
blood on the tracks is definitely the best break up album ever ever. |
Whether or not you like Dylan's music, you have to thank him for one thing.
He introduced the Beatles to marijuana, the fuel of the Fab Four's creativity. |
I love Bob Dylan... some of my favourite songs of his are "Like a Rolling Stone", "Hurricane", "Mississippi", and "Maggie's Farm"
|
I'm a low-level Dylan freak.
I'd start with "Blonde on Blonde." Then "Blood on The Tracks", The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. The two most recent official live bootlegs are amazin', too. |
its kind of hard to find, but once upon a time dylan did a duet wtih van morrison to the song "crazy love. "
I urge you to attempt to find it, its really really good. :) |
I love Bob Dylan too. He makes some great travelling music.
|
