NIN

there seem to be quite a few NIN fans around here, i won't mention any names, you know who you are. Yet, there seems to be a distinct lack of a Nine Inch Nails thread here. wtf?

meanSpleen 08-17-2003 10:06 AM

Congratulations, there is now a Nine Inch Nails thread here. Now give us something to talk about. Good albums? Bad times? Is Trent really that dang good? Upcoming news/events?

Zargix 08-17-2003 10:18 AM

I have quite a few, but not all 17 or however many haloes there are. I really like them, especially the remix albums, further down the spiral in particular. I heard he's working on a new album, that'll be more like Broken, which will rock, cause broken is my favorite album.

Pedialyte 08-17-2003 11:01 AM

I think pretty hate machine and downward spiral are my favorite full lengths...

brandon11983 08-17-2003 11:21 AM

anything NIN is fucking awesome. they gave birth to many forms of modern music. I'd die to see them live!!

Mr.Deflok 08-17-2003 01:12 PM

The Fragile was the best, it's not easy to priduce a 2CD album and have every track rock. Smashing Pumpkins did it with Mellon Colie but their were a lot of stinkers on their (albeit being still a good album).

CyCo PL 08-17-2003 02:07 PM

The Fragile is definitely my favoritest NIN album, I had that whole album looped in the background of everything for about a year after it came out.

Jadey 08-17-2003 03:53 PM

So has anyone been paying attention to what's been going on with the nin site (www.nin.com)? A couple of weeks ago it was up and it looked like something was happening. Different pages on the site had some text on them, but you could barely read them, but it seemed to be getting more readable every couple of days. Then, the next time I go to the site, IT's DOWN! WTF?

HeAtHeN 08-17-2003 04:23 PM

Yeah nin.com is down... I noticed that a few days ago.

Check this place out.

Fragile is an amazing album.

Zargix 08-17-2003 04:32 PM

yeah, i'm an nin.com addict. im going through withdrawel. I NEED TO SEE BLURS MOVE!!! seriously. its driving crazy. when it comes back up, iT BETTER HAVE NEWS OR I WILL KILL TRENT. wait then he can't make music that would suck. i wouldn't kill him i would just give him a very stern warning, okay?

vermin 08-17-2003 05:02 PM

I liked The Downward Spiral, but really became a fan when I saw their concert on sattelite (freeview channel, yes, I taped it), then bought the accompanying live cd. They sound good in the studio, they are GREAT live.

YaWhateva 08-17-2003 07:08 PM

I dont really like Trent Reznor, but i do like some of their songs.

more fire 08-17-2003 08:01 PM

I saw nin live two years ago in brixton, fantastic gig.
Personally I'd say the downward spiral was the best long player trent's made, but there all good.

ninety09 08-17-2003 08:13 PM

NIN is one of my favourite bands ever. I hope they'll release something new soon.

docbungle 08-17-2003 09:13 PM

Love 'em. I watch The Fragile Tour dvd (All That Could Have Been) or at least listen to it in the background whenever possible.

Fucking awesome concert aye? I bought the Box-Set album of that gig too, was expensive but bloody worth it.

absorbentishe 08-18-2003 06:04 AM

NIN is one of the Best live bands I've ever seen! I've seen them probably 5 or 6 times, in small venues, and in large venues. I haven't seen another band that can totally hold a huge crowd captive. Trent is awesome.

90degree 08-18-2003 09:55 AM

been over this band for a lllloooonnnngg time now.. .. just to much other betters stuff to listen to.. but it did have it's time.

irieemon 08-18-2003 10:47 AM

I really credit NIN with the popularity of the Quake series, needless to say I was very disappointed in the lack of a Reznor soundtrack in Quake II.

I heard he was going to do the Doom 3 soundtrack and then pulled out, the was back again... confusing

90degree 08-18-2003 11:05 AM

lmao.. yeah.. had nothing to do with the game... heh.

Rush can :D I really like NIN i don't really know the song names, but so far every song i've heard of theirs kicks ass! A little fact about Trent, He went on a LDS (Mormon) mission.

World's King 08-18-2003 02:08 PM

it won't give up
it wants me dead
goddamn this noise inside my head

snicka 08-18-2003 02:30 PM

A Perfect Circle / Nine Inch Nails at the Gorge Ampitheater in Washington was probably the BEST concert I have ever been to in my life. I was BLASTING both bands in my car for weeks after that concert

snicka 08-18-2003 02:41 PM

I am pretty sure the Mormon Missionary thing is a myth

mrquackers 08-18-2003 05:12 PM

I'm not a NIN fan. More the polar opposite, actually - leaning towards Jimmy Buffet and Barenaked Ladies.

Which makes it all the much weirder that I met, sat and talked with Chris Vrenna last week. Nice as hell guy. We chatted for over an hour about all sorts of topics.

Mr.Deflok 08-18-2003 05:42 PM

Anyone lucky enough to go to the David Bowie/NIN concert about 10 years ago? I got some mp3 bootlegs from those shows and my god they fucking rocked! NIN opened for Bowie but they did songs together so there was a NIN version of Heart's Filthy Lesson and a Bowie version of Wish. Fucking priceless.

It's not, he actually went home early. Didn't do the full 2 years.

phukraut 08-19-2003 06:44 PM

TDS was great.. PHM was good.. fragile was ok. broken is waay underrated.. it's really good.

mastboy4 08-19-2003 07:47 PM

i just love NIN and bowie they are just fuckin great musicians

yangwar 08-19-2003 09:06 PM

Jimmy Buffett and Trent are NOT mutually exclusive. ;)

Anyway, anyone else here consider NIN to be electronic rather than rock?
