BT - Emotional Technology
I don't know how many of you TFPers are familiar with BT's music, but to me, he is the end-all, be-all of amazing music in this day and age. He just released his fourth studio album, Emotional Technology, and it is absolutely incredible. I recommend it to anyone already a fan of him, or willing to try something new. He brings a completely unparalleled style of electronic music to the table, shattering many of the so called "techno" albums that have been released in the past few years. His blend of careful mixing, live music and stunning vocals weaves one spell-binding song after another. This is, in my opinion, one of the best albums of the year.

agreed. the albums rocks my fucking socks off.
|
BT does own all, Never gunna come back down is my favorite song of his
|
I saw BT in a DJ set a year ago. I'm a big fan of his music. I'll check it out.
|
Movement in Still Life is the only BT album i currently own, and then only because of Never Gonna Come Back Down, but his music did grow on me alot. I've placed an order for Emotional Technology ($9.79! Now thats what CDs should cost :D) and should hopefully be getting it soon.
There's definitely something about Bt's music that puts him head and shoulders above other electronic artists out there... |
after listening to the first 4 tracks... I'm wishing he'd go back to his old style.. ESCM, Ima and such. I'm not diggin this new vocal stuff.

BT and The Roots - Tao of the Machine
The song kicks too much ass for words. |
not impressed with it at all. Like Halx stated above, I wish he'd go back to his older style. Oh well, there are a ton of other people out there I enjoy listening to, so I'm not going to bash him. He's a good producer and at least he admits he's a bad DJ, so I gotta give him that :)
|
His new shirts on his website say "I'm Still Not a DJ." And I'd definitlely agree with X_cody_X and Halx that ESCM and Ima are definitely BT in his element, but I really like the way he's branched out. I really like melodic techno with good vocals, it's a nice break from the typical four-to-the-floor beat with a generic synth loop.

I like the new album, myself. Though I would love to see a Doughty/BT collaboration again...I cannot get enough of Never Gonna Come Back Down...
|
For the fans of Never gunna come back down, search yahoo for "turbo dreams 2" if you like cars/imports. It has never gunna come back down dubbed over a bunch of supras...good video, blow off valves + never gunna come back down = :):):):):)
|
I remember that video. I liked the ones with the 800+ hp supra tearing up the bikes on the highway better though...
Actually BT's Never Gonna Come Back Down is a remix of some band I can't remember, and it's pissing me off. Econoline Crush, that's it! Actually I used to like them back in the day, and when I heard BT's version I loved it. But I think Godspeed is his best work. Or maybe Mercury & Solace. |
Oh yeah, if you like his work you should check out some of Andain's stuff, like Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden's remix) or You Once Told Me.
I'm jealous of the people who've gotten the promo copies of their artist album, lucky bastards! |
