rock Icons

Vh1 just did thier 100 pop icon countdown. I was pretty dissapointed by thier rock Icons. Elvis was 3 and the Beatles were 12. I was wondering who you think are the best ROCK ICONS?

My Number one would have to be John Lennon.

it's a mystery how someone can categorize and arrange musicians like vh1 does. Things like this are thoroughly a matter of personal taste.

A while back they named jennifer aniston as the most famous actress or some sort because she appeared on the most magazine covers.........bah. Still at least that criteria was laid down clear and simple, not ifs buts and ands...this is just an arbitrary order. Probably the editor got to choose number one.

Man, that's a good question, it's too bad there are so few left.
I would have to say John Lennon and George Harrisson for sure. Paul McCartney was only really good in the Beatles. Johnny Rotten, Jim Morrisson, Mick & Keith, all of Led Zepplin, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Iggy Pop and...that's all I can think of for now.

THERE'S a rock icon for you.

But I'd say everyone in Basket Case's list, plus Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Tina Turner, Daltrey and Townsend, there's lots more. Like Elvis, for example...

Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, and the Doors would be my top three. The Beatles wouldn't even make my list. I despise their music. There are way too many to list and I just don't have the time for it.

Gene Simmons from Kiss.

Grateful Dead have to be in there. Over 30 years of heavy touring to sold out shows.

souzafone 08-06-2003 10:03 PM

Zappa.

Zappa's annoying kids are startin' to cancel him out.

Who was their #1 choice? I didn't see it mentioned above. I would hesitate to make a list because each generation is different. There is also a lot of personal preference involved.

too many for me to list....

big_bubba 08-09-2003 09:15 PM

Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple
