Are there any other RUSH "freaks" out there? In case you don't understand, I'm talking about the Canadian rock trio Rush! Only the best band in the universe!:D Let me know what you think.

Rush has always been a fav. of mine.. allthough.. I kind of got over them around the power windows time... but .. all of the older stuff will allways be some of the best music ever created.

Once upon a time. If i listened to them now it would be a more for nostagia trip value.

Didn't they tour recently for like the first time in 5 years.

I still put in a cd every now and then. The newer stuff is okay, but I prefer the pre-Exit Stage Left stuff! Red Barchetta is my all time fav.

i used to be a big rush fan, but i don't really have the urge to listen to them much anymore. if i do, it is cuz i need some cignus-x1, xanadu or natural science in my life.

i was never too big on the 80s rush ('cept subdivisions)

once i relaxed on the technical=good tip i started to listen to a much larger variety of music...

Yes!! Me too! I'm a huge fan of them. Test For Echo is their best work in my opinion.

Anyway...used to be a Rush fan. I went through a 5 or 6 year prog rock phase....Yes, King Crimson, Rush, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Gentle Giant....which eventually led me into the wonderful world of fusion. Now I prefer the sweet sweet sounds of Zamfir, the pan flute god!

I totally dig their musical abilities, and I think that each of the three of the band members are some of the best in their field.

However, Geddy's voice bothers the hell out of me. There's only so much Rush I can take in a single sitting.

Hey Folks... You can tell by my Screen name... I am A RUSH FREAK.. I mean I collect anything they offically release. I have every album and have been to nearly 20 concerts since 1984. They are my fav. Band and will be until they either Quit Playing or I Die...

Anything after "A Farewell to Kings" in my opinion was shit! I absolutely loved them before that album. After that album they became to electronic and 80's! They even admitted it! "All this machinery making modern music can still be open hearted!"
Xanadu was their best song ever!

Must be the oddball here. I am a fan of ALL of their stuff, including the 80's stuff.

Grace Under Pressure was a great album. Power Windows had some good stuff too.

Of course my favorite is 2112. Awesome album.

From album #1 to "Test For Echo" I have LOVED these guys for about 25 years now!

"Moving Pictures" would DEFINITELY be one of the greatest rock albums ever.

Plus, you have not only the greatest drummer in rock, but the greatest bass player as well...

And Alex Lifeson on guitar AIN'T no frikkin' slouch either!

Among my top 10 favorite bands of all time!

(Plus, the most technically accurate and tight live act I have EVER seen!)

A good question would be this: If you are into Rush, do you ALSO like King's X?

It's essentially Rush with harmony.

RUSH is awesome. I saw them in concert last July 4. They've still got it. I prefer the older stuff, though. 2112, Farewell to Kings, Hold Your Fire, Permanent Waves...

Yeah, Geddy's voice isn't the greatest. But, there's so much more to listen to, it makes up for the vocals.

I thought the lead singer of Rush was a girl when I first heard him sing.

They have some decent songs, though. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan, but I like some of their stuff.

Although I couldn't go to SARS-stock, (woulda loved to see Rush + The Tea Party again, along with seeing The Flaming Lips, AC/DC, and the Stones for the first time), I watched the CBC footage of it. They showed Rush playing 'Freewill', and I was dismayed to hear Alex Lifeson doing backup vocals during the chorus.

Anyone who's heard his side project 'Victor' can agree that he did everything possible to hide the fact that he can't sing for shit, (guest singers, instrumentals, and the 2 tracks he did the vocals for were spoken). His guitar work is still astonishing though.

Geddy can't wail like he used to either. It was painful to hear the 'Each of us / a cell of awareness / empathic and incomplete' part of Freewill. I also thought it odd to see shots of kids crowd surfing to them.

I don't listen to them much anymore, but when I do, it's usually older stuff. 'Working Man' is a classic, 'In the End' is an overlooked song that I've come around to. When I pop in 2112, the only song I skip is 'The Twilight Zone'. The only exception to the 'Older stuff' rule is 'Presto', which I love.

I picked up a copy of Neil Peart's book 'The Masked Rider', sort of a travelogue of a bike trip he took through Africa. He's not as great a writer as he is a drummer/lyricist, but it's a good read nonetheless.

Rush was one of the most awesome live shows that I've seen. the first band I ever heard that used surround sound live!

Well there was only ever three of them trying to produce the sound of five. A power trio the term the critics used.

I'm unsuprised they took advantage of electronics to bear some of the strain of producing phat sound with just the three of em.

Main advantage of being in a power trio, you get a third of the royalties instead of a fifth, smart :D

Rush is quite possibly the greatest band in the world. My first concert (and probably the best) was the Moving Pictures tour.

I remember listening to A Show of Hands, it was that album that got me hooked on Rush. I later bought Signals and has been my favorite album, along with Grace Under Pressure.

I love them. The trees and Free Will are my favourite tracks, and I would kill for Geddy Lee's range.

We're getting a little OT here, but yes, King's X is a great band. The bassist and guitarist are very talented (you should hear some of the solos and jams they pull off), and their music is good too. It varies from blues to ballads to flat out rockers

If you want another band with the best guys in the business, you should check out Dream Theater. They're more metal than Rush, but they are probably the single most talented group of musicians on the planet.

Working Man is one my all time favorites,but the last 15 years has been a let down.

They are my favorite band of all time, only started getting into them about 4 years ago, went to their concert last year and was in a Rushical Daze for about a week and a half, I hear they are coming out with a live dvd and Cd from their last show which i'm really excited for. I LOVE all of their albums but i think my favorite is Caress of Steel.

been a fan since someone lent me Hemispheres, about 17 years ago. i've kept up ever since. i've seen them a few times, which is always a pleasure, and i even used to play in a Rush/Primus cover band (guitar/vocals)

Rush has always done some incredible experimental stuff, fusion and art-rock kinds of things, but `Working Man' to this day is still one of the greatest rock anthems ever recorded. I get chills listening to that tune just as loud as I can make it.

Your kinda correct. Kim Mitchell was the lead singer for a band called Max Webster, and it was indeed the band I was asking about. The lyrics were, like you said, Bust the busters, screw the feeders, make the healers, feel the way I feel.......

i worked at an amoco station in mid-michigan in high school & that 8-track (that's right, fucking 8-track tape. look it up on google kiddies.) was my soundtrack for scrubbing the floors at night.

any song will immediately take me back to grease, stroh's, my gutless cutlass & the last time i had sex with a 16 year old (i was 17).

if not for the memories, i'm pretty sure geddy would be unlistenable to me at this point in my life.

huge Rush fan would say Signals is my favorite album, try to see 1-3 concerts each time they are in the area, I have travelled as far as 4 hours to see them.

I just got into Rush this... I started listening to some of their stuff in anticipation of the Sars concert here in Toronto. Now they are one of my favourite bands. I love 2112.

i went through a rush phase for about 3 months, but now i really don't enjoy any of their stuff. oddly enough, i didn't loose my taste for other prog, such as yes, dream theater...

Most Rush fans I know are also Dream Theater and Kings X fans, I find myself not interested in those groups, anybody have insight on why Rush fans tend to be fans of the other groups?

I have all of Rush's albums and have seen them in concert several times. I have yet to be disappointed. I really like the pre-Signals Rush, especially Moving Pictures and 2112.

As for Edmos1's question, I think that many bands, such as the ones listed, are very heavily influenced by Rush, and Rush fans pick up on that - especially Dream Theater - They contribute greatly to the Rush tribute album Working Man.

I'm looking for the Rush in Rio Live set that's coming out at the end of October. The down side is that they're breaking 4 studio, 1 live pattern. It makes me wonder...

I actually worked with one of their producers once. He had an amazing ear but he was a pedophile. Great band though very talented

Rush definitely rocks...I loved them as a kid, however, most of there newer stuff is a bit naff in my opinion. Anything before Roll the Bones is worth listening to...IMO.

I knew I would find a RUSH thread here .....

Just went to the 'R30' concert on Friday night in Tampa. Was held at a new outdoor amphitheater. Great venue.

They are billing this as their '30th Anniversary Tour'. They played they opening 20 minute medley and we all looked at each other and said 'We could go home satisfied right now.' But instead we stayed for another three hours and rocked out to the old favs and some new stuff too. I can't believe I first saw these guys in Barton Coliseum in Little Rock, Ar in 1977. Max Webster was the warm-up band.

Their latest 'CD' is 20 cover songs of old favorites that the guys grew up on. Probably the best one live was 'Summertime Blues'.

Vapour Trails was an amazing album. The new cover album sucks.
