Bela Fleck & The Flecktones

I was just wondering what all of you thought of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones. I personally think they are great. If you haven't heard of them try downloading some of there songs.

I am familiar with Bela Fleck, but I'm sure a lot of the others are not. How about a few suggestions on what songs to look for, and a summary of who/what Bela Fleck is and what he plays.

Victor Wooten and Futureman kill it. Iv'e seen them live a few times and the brothers Wooten always steal the show. Bela has a good group of musicians around him....how else can you get people to accept a skilled banjo player (jk). Their dope though, I enjoy the music they make.

Victor Wooten is may be the best bassist I have ever seen. He does things with his bass that I didn't even know was possible. Personally, I don't like future man. The gimic gets old quickly, and I really feel like real drums would provide a much better sound than the electric drum guitar thing he plays.

Victor Wooten is a god. He plays his instrument with such ... such ... there isn't a word to describe it. It is truly something that will leave you in awe when you hear him. Did he just do that on a four stringed instrument?

I love Bela Fleck and the Flecktones! I saw them awhile back in Tallahassee FL on Bob Marley's birthday. The show was amazing and for the encore future man came out with George Clinton and played a mdley of Bob Marley songs.... I can't wait to see them again!

speaking of good bassist, who has heard stu hamm play? he has done some touring with joe satriana. he is such an artist when it comes to the bass. he is able to play rhythm and lead bass at the same time to make such a beautiful sound. you can download a live bass solo of his on kazaa. stu hamm and victor wooten are my favorite bassists.

Could someone answer, once and for all, is it pronounced Bay-la or Bel-la?

Thanks for listening.

Not sure how he pronounces it, but I have lots of hungarian relatives who go by Bay-la.

it is BEH-la, with an accent over the e. i think he is french or french canadian. Either way he can play a mean banjo.
and yes, there is a law that, if you have any worth as a bassist, you must know, love, and worship The VW. no, not the bug, The Wooten.
the only one who holds a candle to him, and a very strange candle it is, is Les Claypool. Not exactly a bass that he plays, it seems. for beauty, les is sadly outdone by Victor Lemont Wooten.

Their "Bluegrass Sessions" was one of the first things that really got me interested in bluegrass. That, and "Old and in the Way"

I've seen Bela with the Flecktones once, and I saw him perform an acoustic set with Edgar Mayer. Both shows were absolutely amazing

They played a few months ago at the casino near where I live. It was possibly the greatest show I'd ever seen.
