Best Tab Sites...
Just wondering what some of your favorite places are for tabs?
I am kinda hesitant to give out some of my sources on tab for the fear that they might be shut down...but, I use bandtabs and the obvious OLGA a lot...what about you guys? |
Tabcrawler.com, and usually I go to http://www.ubl.com and look up the artist. From there, you can find a ton of websites for that artist arranged by subject. Usually there are at least a few sites dedicated to tabs.
|
Tabcrawler is one of the best.
I suggest using google.com to look up a song you want (fer instance: "denis leary asshole tab") and then checking out the sites you get. |
guitar tab universe is good.
http://www.guitartabs.cc/home.php so is tab crawler. If I can't find what I want on these two, I use a search a search engine. or find a site dedicated to the artist/band and look thru the links section for sites holding their tab. |
this is a great thread, i need some good tabs sites becuase i just bought a gutiar, and yes, the ladies have been pouring in.
|
i personally use power tab and guitar pro which are programs which plays the tab to you and you learn of it. if you want to know more about them type them into google and you will find them
|
Power Tab is great...I cant believe that software is free...
|
BTW, here is a great set of links to guitar sites...
http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/sites.html |
Not sure if you all have seen this one...but it is a great reference:

Another vote for powertab, great learning tool.
|
I usually go to www.guitaretab.com or www.olga.net
Guitaretab may not have the most songs, but they do have quite a bit and they are easy to search for and all. There aren't any ads that pop up, either. I'm not sure if olga.net is still updating the site, but it does have a TON of tabs for all kinds of music. |
I used to go on OLGA and guitartabs.cc, but man, I gave up on those two a long time ago. If anything I usually go for a search engine, but a good majority of internet tabs are false anyway, so it's best to just use them as guidlines and learn to play by ear.
But that's just my opinion..... |
e-tabs.org is a favorite of mine. Like Basket Case sez...learn to play by ear...you gotta feel it, and not just plunk through some tablature.
|
POWERTAB
There is no better resource. period. If you have'nt tried it TRY IT NOW. |
If you are into Phish:

hmm...have always used guitartabs.cc...there are probably better ones out there, though this one has always served my purposes...mostly.
|
MxTabs.net has served me well over the past few years. Nice site design too.

MXtabs is great!! and e-tabs.org is as well....thanks guys...I knew there had to be some good ones out there I havent found!! :)
|
|
oh, and www.worldguitar.com is great to learn how to play
|
I second Harmony Central. Great site.
I have actually started using google a lot to look for tabs. It tends to work well for more obscure tabs. |
i use mxtabs.net but i'm gonna try this power tabs thing as i'm really crap at guitar and it might help me learn :)
|
www.mxtabs.net is great......has bass and guitar
Also ultimate guitar tabs I frequent MXtabs the most, then ultimate guitar tabs, and then olga.net |
BY FAR THE BEST is mysongbook.com.
Guitar-pro is one of the coolest programs ever. Yeah, you don't have the variety of songs in GP3 or GP4 (guitar-pro) format, but you get midi everything, so you can play along to the TAB. I've used it for years, and its absolutely amazing. You can listen to and learn bass, drums, even a freaking banjo if someone tabs it out. Watch the music scroll as you play. And its free. Best music site ever. Cheese |
www.mxtabs.net owns for the simple fact that it has tons of drum tabs!
|
mxtabs still seems to be up and running well... does anyone have any newer suggestions not listed here?
|
I sued to be all over mxtabs, even moderated their forums for a while. Good site. I think the tabs are down now though.
The Power Tabs site was excellent, but that archive has been shut down. Luckily, I saved everything of interest beforehand! |
You sued to be all over it? Must have been pretty good site to warrant you taking legal action to be all over it. ;)
xeph, you are dredging up lots of old threads. Everything ok there buddy? |
|
i use http://www.911tabs.com/ most of the time. It usually has Guitar Pro files, and i dig that.
sometimes when im looking for tabs that relate to punk/ska/folk ill use http://www.punkhardcore.com/tabs.cfm |
would it kill me to take the money I just got from selling my PS3 and buying a decent starter guitar? ;p

This is what I started with. |
i use 911tabs.com, but make sure you have pop-up blocking installed

I'd say spend $150 or so on a good entry-level acoustic and go from there. If you stick with it you can buy something better down the road. |

Do it. |
Just checked out mxtabs -- which I used to use -- and that site doesn't have a lot of tabs like they used to.
Checked out Tabcrawler, and that site is so messy and unorganized, ugh. 911tabs I feel is still the best; they've got Guitar, Bass, Drum, GP5 tabs for like every artist. |
