Tilted Mix CD Exchange!

Inspired by a recent mix CD exchange with a new friend, I thought it might be possible to get something like this started on TFP. It's a really fun way to spend some time being creative and learning about your friends and their tastes.

Pick a song, a poem, a story, an inspiration, and create a playlist. Burn a CD, mail it to someone (or multiple someones), and post the track list here. We could possibly also do this through something like seeqpod, but I like getting and sending things in the mail.

I thought seeqpod was dead now.. we'd have to use something like grooveshark to do it digitally.

I doubt I'd do the mail thing.. but have no issues doing it electronically.

so to start I would just get inspired and create a playlist off of that inspiration?? my musical tastes vary every couple of hours so it would be an odd playlist I'm sure.

Gucci: Essentially, yes.

I received a mix CD the other night based off a (sad) poem. I made one based on objects (stars). I plan on making another one based on some of my fears.

You can also just share cool playlists if you want. I love to mail and receive things, and I like that if I enjoy a playlist I won't have to go download all the songs to burn myself a CD.. but whatever works to share music, I'm all for it.

ok well.. when I get inspired today.. (in an hour or so) I'll head to grooveshark and make a playlist.. I'll just need Jetee to help me embed it


I won't do the mail thing.. nothing personal.. I just tend to be a pretty private person IRL. :shrug:

Also, it reminds me of the "Create a Playlist to Introduce Someone to the Genre" thread, but this one seems abit more lax and fun with the rules.

I have been creating a secret playlist for a close friend of mine for nearing four months now.

Creating an album of songs that tell a distinct story is so difficult, especially when trying to span generations and musical genres. I might just pm the playlist when finished to a select few members here to see if they appreciate the double disc "mix-tape", or have suggestions on what to shift/omit or include to the feel of the album.
It still needs a title and a box cover.


For now, I didn't create this playlist, but I did recently find it... and it features the original song stylings of today's more popular tracks that sampled the music in question.

Jet, that's a very interesting mix. It reminds me conceptually of a CD I made, which perhaps I should post: All of the original songs that Rage Against The Machine cover on their album, 'Renegades'

I like this idea, PP. Even if the theme is something as simple as songs that have a personal meaning to you, it's a way to express yourself through music if you aren't as musically-inclined as some.

My music collection is not nearly as eclectic as many on TFP, but I will make a list with what I do have. I'll pick an easy theme at first. If I like it, then maybe I'll do more. I may not send it to anyone, but just post it here.

I found this playlist just ten minutes ago, and I'm sorry that I'm posting yet again another mix that I had no part in compiling, but as I only own around 36 albums, my musical range is severely limited to making a replete and tethered playlist on my own. But, looking over this playlist, there are only two songs that I am not intimately familiar with, so I near-wholly endorse these theme-tacked tracks.
