Classical remixes

I recently heard a remix of Wolfgangs 5th sympony with a banging D&B beat knocked on, absolutely blew my mind. Now i want more.

Does anyone know of any compilation CD's or artists that do remixes of classical songs with modern dance (or disco) beats?

Cheers

Is this what you mean?

I'm not quite sure if it what you requested, but the intro and foundation of this piece is built heavily on the premise "classic elegance", before it transmorphs into an all-out hip-hop grand medley.

Someone did a remix of Vivaldi's Summer from the Four Seasons back when I was in high school. A lot of people seem to like that. I think it was done by Vanessa Mae. Tiesto did a remix of Barber's Adagio for Strings.

Ah, found them:

Honestly, I gave this a try once with the New World Symphony by Dvorak and it didn't turn out well. It's difficult to combine the complexity of orchestral music with the simplicity and repetitiveness of mainstream electronica.

Did you mean Beethoven's 5th Symphony?

There was a spate of classical/disco crossovers in the 70's; Walter Murphy's "A Fifth of Beethoven" being the most popular. Parts of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons" and Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in Dm" were also "discoed."

I'm not familiar with any modern versions, but I'm sure there's several out there. It would be even easier to do these days with beat-detection and audio quantization. I'm sure the 70's versions were recorded specifically for disco beats since the only way to get a beat to match precisely (back then) was doing it the old fashioned way.

Sorry I don't have anything other than that to add.

You might want to check out the Cafe del Mar "Aria" series. More relaxed than D&B, but still along the same lines of what you're looking for...
