Hey Guitar Players. . .You Gotta See This

The worlds first self tuning guitar system. Not only will it automatically go into standard tuning, but also go into alternate tuning with the turn of a knob. Cool technology here!

Yeah good point. Sorry I didnt mean to exclude anyone. Unfortunately edit does not allow me to change the title. Actually this technology would be just as good for someone learning as well, perhaps even better.

Willravel 12-11-2007 04:10 PM

I was hoping you'd respond: NO!

That's incredible technology! I wish they'd give that a try with pianos. Tuning my baby is a bitch.

I imagine this system is expensive and probably not worth the cost. After all, it only takes a minute or so to tune a guitar and savvy performers usually have multiple guitars on-hand so they can switch tunings easily. I suppose if one only had a single guitar then there would be a benefit, but really, how many of us can claim that?

Technically it's pretty cool. I just can't imagine actually using it.

I think I'll love to have one of those in my room but I got kids coming over every so often that it'll be a hassle to keep it safe from them.

I can tune my guitar to the standard strings but how would you tune it down or up when you feel like it?

If you have a piano, that's the most accurate way. Tune your sixth string to the D (or E flat or whatever) on the piano and then tune the rest of your strings off that one.

The 'incorrect' way to do it is to tune off another part of the fret board. So for drop D, for example, you tune your sixth string an octave below your fourth string. The problem with this method is that if your fourth string isn't in tune then you'll throw the whole instrument out of tune, but if you're jamming alone that won't really matter so long as the strings are in tune relative to each other.

Man, that's very cool. I wish I had an axe worthy of installing that system on it!

It apparently allows the player to autotune to several alternate tunings. Even the open chord tunings that require one than one string adjustment. Ofcourse if someone takes the time they can develop a perfect pitch that is usually with allot of aural perception training.

I just see as a fancy time saver, or a luxary for someone using various alternate tunings on stage where correct adjustment comes with the turn of a knob.

Watching Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin, and De Lucia constantly manually adjust their strings to perfect pitch and to different alternative harmonies shows that playing without is no big deal.

Just a cool toy, one Id like to have.

Tis pretty cool, it can be a pain in the ass in practice trying to tune your guitar and your shithead drummer keeps playing rolls and shit... Drummers make me very angry.

A godsend for tuning between songs when you're also the frontman and trying to make smalltalk with the audience. When they make one for acoustic guitar, I'm getting it installed.

Sp glad I stumbled on this thread, props to you. Shocked I haven't found out sooner. This is so simple it's genius. Awesome post.
