The Beatles: Love
Just listening to this (it's officially released on Monday, but I found a copy early) :suave:
It's been re-mixed from the original multi track tapes by Giles Martin (George Martin's son) with the permission (and encouragement) of the surviving Beatles and the estates of John and George. Conceived as the backing tracks for the Vegas Cirque du Soleil show at the Mirage, this takes around 30 tracks from the back catalogue and remixes them together (the vox from Within You Without You to the Backing Track of Tomorrow Never Knows, for example). It sounds a little cheesy as a concept, bt it is stuningly well executed - I can see this being the most given Christmas Present all over the world this year. Get yourself a copy. Now. What? You're still here. You should be on the way to the CD store. Go. GO! |
Adds to christmas list - How long is the CD?
|
It's about 78 minutes, but there's a 5.1 mix on DVD that comes in the special 2 disc edition.
I've not got a full surround system, but by all accounts it's bloody briliant. |
nice where you find that copy

Quite a lot of records are officially loaded for streaming listening before their formal release date - look at places like AOL Music, MP3.com or just Google "legal CD downloads" or "free music streams". |
After watching the actual show in Vegas, I got myself a copy of the soundtrack as soon as it was released. It's really awesome to have the soundtrack, but nothing can ever top seeing the performance in person. Each seat in the theater is pimped out with speakers so that you're acoustically surrounded by the Beatles. It's absolutely incredible. Every Beatles fan should make a pilgramage to Vegas to see this show, totally worth it.

Got it for my dad this Christmas, he loves it! And so do I, bought a copy for myself also :D

Here's the scoop I got this morning from Sirius. According to one of their DJ's, he read in BeatleFan Magazine that the entire Beatle catalogue will be remixed and rereleased beginning this year, 2007. Back in 1987, when the catalogue was first released on CD, the mixing capabilities were minimal, therefore the CD's have needed major upgrading in the past 20 years. With the success of Let It Be Naked and Love, they plan to honor the 20th anniversary by remixing and upgrading everything - including the original liner notes.
I'm jacked. For a sample of what I'm talking about, go back and compare the CD version of Across the Universe from Let It Be and Let It Be Naked. The latter version is SO MUCH more rich and with so much more depth and warmth to the sound. |
Nice phrase
