Besides ITUNES....what is there?
I buy some music from iTunes for 99 cents a tune. Some guy
told me there is a place on the internet selling tunes for 10 cents a tune and it's legal. Anyone know if this is real? :) |

- 10 cents a song, but based in Russia. Use at your own discretion. Kinda sketchy looking, in my opinion. http://www.allofmp3.com/ - 50 cents a song, a bit more reputable. "Is it legal to download music from AllOFMP3.com? The availability over the Internet of the ALLOFMP3.com materials is authorized by the license # LS-3М-05-03 of the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society (ROMS) and license # 006/3M-05 of the Rightholders Federation for Collective Copyright Management of Works Used Interactively (FAIR). In accordance to the licenses' terms MediaServices pays license fees for all materials downloaded from the site subject to the Law of the Russian Federation "On Copyright and Related Rights". All these materials are solely for personal use. Any further distribution, resale or broadcasting are prohibited. The works available from ALLOFMP3.com are protected by the Law of the Russian Federation "On Copyright and Related Rights" and are for personal use of a buyer. Commercial use of such material is prohibited. Recording, copying, distribution on any media is possible only upon special consent of a Rightholder. The user bears sole responsibility for any use and distribution of all materials received from AllOFMP3.com. This responsibility is dependent on the national legislation in each user's country of residence. The Administration of AllOFMP3.com does not possess information on the laws of each particular country and is not responsible for the actions of foreign users." Basically, it's legal in Russia so they can host it - US laws haven't really covered it yet, so it's still a grey area. And then there's my solution: http://www.bitlord.com/ -- download all the illegal music you feel like downloading. |
Yeah, I've heard things about allofMP3.com too... and if I was going to use a music downloading service (and who hasn't) then I would use allofMP3.com. They let you pick the quality of the download, and that determines how much the song is- anywhere from around two cents to around thirty cents, depending on legnth and quality. Their user interface is really friendly too, and as far as I know there's not been any problems with payment or anything like that.
It's still kinda... ehhhh... "is the Russian Mafia really behind all this?" kinda thing, but hey, that's up to you.... :D |
I have a few friends who have used allofmp3.com, and I've heard nothing but praise about it.

Emusic!
http://www.emusic.com/ If you're looking for some obscure/indie type music they are the place to check. Before you even buy anything they give you 25 downloads for free. They way they charge is by month. You have to buy a plan that's 40, 60, or 90 dl per month. It works out to about $0.20 - 0.25 per song. Even if you're not interested in signing up for the service, the 25 free down loads is a sweet deal. |

My sister in law uses this. I haven't really looked into it yet. You pay $35.00 to subscribe, then dl all you want. I think it might be a file share system, but can't say foresure. |
Emusic--not for me

"OBSCURE /Indie" music is right. Almost all of their music is very ancient and the others are from "Artists" I never heard of. I could not get anything to download including their download program. Emusic may be a "Sweet Deal" but it's not for me. |
