Songs to play for girls on guitar

hi...

i play guitar. pretty well i might add, but i do not have much of a repetoire due to the fact that i really don't like taking the time to learn songs, especially reading tabulature. i prefer to figure them out myself. but anyway, does anyone know of some songs that good for playing for girls? i appreciate all of your suggestions in advance.

I reeled in and landed lurkette by playing "Wish You Were Here" in the stairwell of our dorm. The acoustics are good and echoey there--make you sound like a really good singer. Truth be told, I had probably a dozen girls sitting around me while I played, but lurkette was the main one I was interested in impressing.

"First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes

Ratbastid, I love Wish You Were Here. That would definitely get me interested. :)

JJ played guitar a little bit. He would play Lullaby by The Cure. I loved the chords and I would sit and listen to it smiling. He self-taught himself, so it's not a difficult set of chords.

In Sidewalks of New York a guy played A Girl Like You by Pete Yorn. It got him the lady.

Good luck!

I've always been able to make the ladies swoon by playing Classical Gas...

...ok, not really.

Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn will even make men ovulate. :)

Before setting off to woo all the women of your dreams with your guitar skills, keep in mind it may not be the best idea for everyone. I have always been put off by guys who sit around playing guitar and thinking it somehow gives them some advantage in the dating game. If a guy tried to win me over by playing his guitar for me, it'd probably be over right then and there. Just know your audience before assuming that will somehow help you.

Love theme from 'Tora Tora Tora'.

It does have a certain "cheese" factor, doesn't it?

Amen to that - it's kinda like some fellas thinking that reciting poetry will win over a female.

What wins over people? Pay attention... not in a creepy stalkerish sort of way but pay attention...

However.. that said.. .tom Wait's Jersey Girl... might work... though not always...

I just saw a live performance of him playing that on youtube, it was incredible. I would kill to be able to play that song on guitar.

For some reason, "Time of your life" by Green Day is popular. Except that that isn't the title of the song -- it's really "Good Riddance", which changes the whole mood and interpretation.

The first thing that came to mind reading the opening post was the scene in Animal House....Stephen Bishop on the steps, seranading the ladies:lol:

Actually, it worked for me:lol:
Guy played it (the Buffet version, not his own) while we were in his car after saying he had a terrific song I should hear. It wasn't the only thing he'd done, of course, but it was the start of a terrific 2 year relationship:lol: (Nothing beats a sense of humor)

well in my defense, since i am already painfully charming, it can never hurt to also have some guitar skills so it would only augment my overall appeal. i like to think of it as a deal closer rather than a pick up line/ploy. i thought of one....fake plastic trees by radiohead....im working on it now.

Don't expect to come off as anything but cheesy until you have a real interest in guitars.

My best friend can serenade girls all he wants with his guitar and it doesn't come off as cheesy. Why? Because you walk in to his room and see a genuine interest--giant Fender cabinet, several pedals, and usually a couple of guitars.

Without the genuine interest--girls will know you're just trying to get into their pants.
