Getting a car alarm?

Well I'm thinkin about getting a car alarm for my car.
What I am thinking about doing is buying a viper alarm off of ebay. I can easily wire it (i'm going for my mecp next month) and i'm already really handy with electrics. I am wonder where does the shock sensor gets mounted? And if I can do it myself and have the free time should I go ahead...it's and older car so I don't have to worry about airbags or any dumb factory security stuff.

Well if the shock sensor is a separate module, i usually see them mount it on the steering wheel shaft under the driver. That's how I did it for my Toyota Camry. Now it's not the best location b/c thieves would look there first but hey if you have an alarm thieves usually leave the car alone...

I would suggest the viper 550esp it has the remote start as well as the high freq long distance controller. I love mine. It only works with automatic transmissions though

I'd look into the AstroStart 3106 alarm/remote start combo. They are one of the few companies that actually make their own brains.
