Race Car Driving Classes?

I want to go to a race car class. Just a weekend thing where they teach you the fundamentals of race car driving. Then you get to go out and race on a track for a few hours.

If anyone has info on this or has ever done it before please let me know.

Also, if anyone knows of a place near Albany, New York that would be awesome.

Thanks to All.

i did the mazda rev it up thing this weekend (mazdarevitup.com) it was a blast a whole day of messing with mazda6 cars and taking them to the max. it is a great time... i did not do that well.. and i wish there was more track time.. but hey it was worth the 35 bucks...

Skip Barber is defently a reputable name in racing. There are honestly a ton of companies/ clubs that have what you are looking for. Since your on the east coast your very lucky becuase the three largest road racing clubs are in your area and very active I might add. If you have your own car it will make things a lot easier but if you don't, its still okay.

If you have your own car you can talk to the SCCA, MARRS and NASA and sign up for driving schools. These are all very good clubs that race on a regonal basis.

If you don't have a car you are more likely to look at a Skip Barber sinareo but the SCCA's Mid-Ohio events do have car rentals. You will get a very nice Integra Type R to rip around with.

If you are looking for a car to do this with you can contact Tom Oats Chevy, Vintage Muscle or Phenoix Automotive. These companys are wonderful in working with SCCA or other track preped cars.

i'll third Skip Barber. They're great. Beginners start out in Neons and once you've learned to drive them well you can graduate up to the Vipers!

Just wait till late and night and drive really fast on your own city streets! If thats too boring, do it in reverse!
