I would too, as I realized all that tax money that went to waste.

It was a donation to the Italian police by Lamborghini.
However, one benefit is that if you made it crash, you'd be fairly certain the poor bastards in the thing would be banned from driving cop cars forever.

Tech 11-15-2004 09:59 PM

saw it before, and yes it was donated by lamborghini... it will mostly be used for emergency heart transplants and such, things that need to travel fast.

Does this remind anyone of that BMW movie back in like, 2002-03? :)

albazeroex 11-16-2004 01:29 AM

now if only the SoCal police had that kind of donation.... maybe then they can catch up with indiviual ricers :D

Confiscating rides from drug dealers wouldn't land one of those, but I'd think they could get a Mustang or Camaro or two out of it.

avhg1 11-16-2004 07:59 AM

Almost makes me want to be an Italian police officer. I wonder how they decide who gets to drive it?

the CHP has a few camaros.. but that's all.

BoltedDown 11-16-2004 01:39 PM

And how else would you expect to pull someone over who is driving erratically on the Autobahn??

tellumFS 11-16-2004 04:59 PM

Saw it in Rome in spring shortly after it was donated. The officer showing it off was pretty damned proud to be the one on engine revving duty.

fuzyfuzer 11-16-2004 08:00 PM

local pd has two corvets as patrol cars i'm not really sure why

Locobot 11-17-2004 09:19 AM

yeah the Lamborghini was a donation, a marketing coup for them too so we can expect to see more of this. It does kind of sicken me to see cops driving much better cars--SUVs, corvettes, mustangs, camaros, etc.--than the average person drives. When you think about how much of local PD revenue comes from fining local citizens for arcane traffic violations, it essentially amounts to a predatory taxation of the streets.

Vortex22 11-18-2004 07:58 AM

The cops around here use a Civic Si to blend in with the street racer crowd. It was kind of funny the first time I saw one with a county license plate and a cop behind the wheel.

yea i saw an unmarked civic si blare after a rsx;; and after that i thought both of them were ricers until the civic turned on its lights;; im like :hmm: .... slows back down to 80mph given i was going @ around 95ish at the time when the civic was following me :|

Paradise Lost 11-18-2004 04:11 PM

I think that's fairly cool of Lamborghini to donate the car to the Police, being that in all the years the company has been around, they've produced less than 10,000 cars (alot less, I believe.)

LeviticusMky 11-21-2004 01:08 AM

I really loved the title of this thread! Made me laugh till I tinkled a bit!

So serious about the fact that you would soil yourself...

I for one would pay the ticket gladly if this pulled me over...

jon_264 11-21-2004 02:34 AM

I'd pull over and let it past as I never speed or break the law so they'd be after someone else and not me! (LOL)

So how do I get this job? Imagine that, you get to drive a 12-cylinder supercar like a bat out of hell and save someone's life at the same time. Talk about job satisfaction. :D
