Need a cheap used car for university - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I am looking at getting a used car in the $6000-$8000 range (CDN). My requirements are as follows. I have been looking at an later 90's legacy or 626. It will be used for a combination of very short around town trips and 2 hour highway drives. Probably less than 12km a year. Any Ideas?
-Cannot be smaller than a 4-door civic (the current model)
-Should get decent gas mileage. Mid to high 20's+ for mpg. (I'm kind of flexible with this)
-Has 130+ hp
-FWD or AWD (I live in a snowy area)
-Auto preferable but if its known to have a sweet tranny I'd go stick
-Not older than a 96. Preferable 20000 or less km per year of use.
-Fairly reliable
-Will be hauling lots of people and hockey equipment ( I can stuff 3 bags and 3 people, including myself, into a civic so that is the "test" for the size of this car)
