1966 Jeep commando

-Axles from a 1968 Jeep wagoneer

-Front springs from a 1968 wagoneer

-rear springs from a 1968 mustang

-Rear axle was centered and the tires stuck out about 4 inches on each side front axle was pushed as far to the right (passenger side) as the differential would allow. right tire was in perfect position under fender. entire left tire protruded from under fender. Every time I hit a puddle it threw water directly on drivers side window.

-Wiper motor quit working tied string between wipers and then ran loop into cab had to pull string back and forth to clear windows.

-Toggle switch mounted to shifter, flipped it on to light up reverse lights.

-2 seperate toggle switches, one for each turn signal flipped on and off for turn signals.

-If I let my foot off of the brake to quickly it would knock the brake light switch loose, causing the brake lights to stay on (would drain the battery overnight).

-Floor boards rusted out enough to allow all water from puddles to join passengers inside the jeep.

-Bottom part of rear window fell off (I backed over it eliminating any chance of repairing it) Used strapping tape to hold window into remaining frame.

-Body extremely rusted wind, water and snow always blowing in. Multiple rolls of duct tape and a few cans of black spray paint. Couldn't even tell passing it at 55mph in the dark.

-Window frames were rusted out (more snow and rain entering) I glued pipe insulation to the top of the windows to seal them. couldn't roll them down anymore but it kept the weather out.

-No heater (alaska!!)

-Seats were from a ford pickup only able to be bolted down in the back so if I accelerated to fast the seats would tilt back. Wired the seats to the floor through rusted out holes. Worked pretty good.

-Motor leaked a quart of oil everynight. I got to the point I would park over a drain pan and pour it back in in the morning. Motor burned oil to the point if I was out offroading I had to have a case of oil. I was not allowed to lead the four wheeling adventures due to smoke screen.
Oil leaking and burning problem was solved by putting 5 quarts of STP oil treatment in motor. It never leaked or burned oil again. I drove it until its death 30,000 miles later without changing oil (ain't broke don't fix it).

-Steering had excessive play, had to turn wheel 1 1/2 turns before it would actually turn the wheels very difficult to make high speed s-curves. lol

-Left front shock mount was broken loose from the axle. Everytime I let off of the throttle it would swerve to the left into on-coming traffic (that is when the above mentioned steering slop was really noticed)

-Clutch was so bad that if I gave it to much throttle it wouldn't move it would just start to smell of burning clutch.

-Front tire blew out causing severe sucking of seat up hind end and it completely ripped of the left front fender further uncovering tire allowing even more stuff to be thrown up on window.

-4 mismatched tires from new to partially bald same height different widths and brand.

The thread asked for the worst car yet as I wrote this I remembered how much fun this old jeep was. I sure wish I still had it it made a simple drive down the block a wild adventure of life and death.

too many things wrong to list, i could sit here all day and type this shit and still wouldn't cover everything.

1.biggest problem is that it will sometimes just shut off, it will actually just shut off while i'm driving. one time i was doing like 60 on a highway and the engine shut off, but of course it will always turn on with the first turn of the key.
2. paid $2,200 for the car and now it needs at least $3,000 worth of repair if not more

i actually kinda liked this one up until i lost it when it got totaled in a 10mph crash. TOTALED DOING 10, I could run into a brick wall at 10mph and be fine
other than that it was a good car minus A/C

My worst car had to be a 1988 Olds Cutlass Calais with the Quad4 engine and a three speed automatic. The transmission was messed up, and it ate oxygen sensors and spark plugs left and right. Not sure what ever was wrong with it, as it got totalled before I spent much money on it.

I was going to say 1972 Chevy Capri. Rear windows in the back continually fell out I had to replace them 3 or 4 times. Finally just replaced them with plastic. The gear shift broke off in my hand and I ended up shifting it with a hammer handle, which worked well except you couldn't get it in reverse. Any speed between 40 and 70 the car shook like a mechanical bull. The entire interior was such cheap crap that all the plastic (and that was 90 percent of it) was broken and cracked. The front seats backs were broken and would not sit up, so it was like driving with no back.
As bad as that was I think YellowGoWild might be right, my 1969 bug had all the same problems as his plus because the battery was under the back seat if you hit a bump the car was filled with Acid fuses and one time the back seat caught fire when the springs in the seat came in contact with the battery terminals. I won't go in to detail on how that happened just use you imagination. Just let me same I became know as a smoking hot lover:)

'71 Ford Pinto. Got my license in it. What a piece of crap. Puke green, could barely make it uphill. Thank God I did not get rear ended.

Finally sold it for $400 in 1979 when I inhierited a 68 Impala. The guy's check bounced, naturally. After showing up at his business a few times, he finally paid cash.

84 Toyota Corolla SR5

Far and away one of the worst POS I drove for any length of time was that car. Over 100K kms it ate:
4 OEM clutches (and I'm not hard on clutches, my next car I never replaced the clutch in over 200K kms and My 1 ton has 160K on it without a clutch job)
2 water pumps(6! different kinds for this engine this year so make sure you get the right one)
2 OEM Alternators at $250 a piece. When the third one went I fabed up a bracket to mount a GM 1 wire unit.

Plus the factory tape unit died (not much loss there) and the drivers side seat back rachet broke.

It was a love hate relationship from the get go really. When I bought the car the drivers side window was busted. No problem I'm thinking, Corrollas are everywhere.

Did you know Toyota make nine different body styles of Corrolla in 84 and a drivers side window is unique for a 3dr coupe (not a 3dr liftback that's something different:()? Ended up having to order one from Japan and waited 6 weeks in December for the frickin' thing to come over on a boat. Good thing I only paid $150 for the car in the first place.

Honorable mention: 89 GrandAm with ABS. The ABS boost motor went and not only are they unobtainium used they cost $4000 new.

1997 Chevy Blazer LT
A great little SUV that I loved for the 8 months that it ran properly.

Then, all of a sudden with about 60,000 miles on it, a nasty electrical problem developed... And it blew 6 fuel pumps in 4 months. 7 fuel pumps, 3 mechanics and a knowledgeable electrician later, it ran long enough for me to trade it in on my 2001 honda civic. Haven't looked back since.

I don't think all of the Blazers had this problem, I think mine was a lemon from the get-go. I actually would consider buying another one cheap as a winter 4wd beater if it were in decent condition for a cheap price.

My former '88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe had that same ABS system, pretty much every car manufacturer used it before the early 90's. I sold the car to my sister, and of course a solenoid in that pump module immediately crapped out. Apparently my dad found a place that sells rebuilt modules for "only" $750.

My worst car was a '93 Mercury Cougar. The car itself was pretty good, but it was saddled with the POS 3.8 V6. I knew about that engine's propensity to eat head gaskets all along. I thought I could extend its life by driving it gently, changing the oil every 2500 miles, and changing the coolant at least once per year. Nope. It blew a gasket at 65k miles. I had it repaired and sold the car 10k miles later. I ran into the person who bought it from me and evidently it blew AGAIN 3k miles after I sold it.
