I know what I want from Santa this christmas- looks really sweet too!

KirStang 08-10-2004 09:02 AM

Ehh, i think it looks a *little* retarded. But 180mpg? Wow

MSD 08-10-2004 09:51 AM

Needs more rear fender.

skinnymofo 08-10-2004 10:19 AM

i agree it kind of reminds me of those body builders you see who do only upper body and neglect their legs.

Asuka{eve} 08-10-2004 11:34 AM

there would probably be accessories to make it look cool.

like a lollipop

yakimushi 08-10-2004 06:12 PM

It's pretty light in the rear and that gas tank looks like a radar hood...

But fuckin'a! 180mpg? And it's multi-fuled? Any word on when these hit the market?

MSD 08-10-2004 06:45 PM

I also like that unlike many hybrids *cough*Prius*cough,* they didn't try to make it look too futuristic and different. With a rear fender, it would look like a real motorcycle.

TM875 08-10-2004 07:08 PM

I'm not a big fan of sport bikes, but if they could make that look like a American or English style touring bike, then I might actually go out a buy one.

BooRadley 08-10-2004 11:07 PM

Wouldn't buy it if I was given a 75% discount. A top speed of 80mph is too slow for united states interstates ( at least in rural KY )

FWIW, you can get a ninja 250 which gets ~55 mpg with a top speed of 100. And vespa scooters will (supossedly) get 150 mpg but might go 40.

You say 'big deal booradley, the hybrid motorcycle will roxor boths boxors! '... you forget one thing.

Motorcycles are already ridiculously expensive for what they are, so I'm guessing this hybrid one will go for nearly $10k.. ( electric motors, computers, low production volume ... ) so it would hardly be worth buying for anyone but a gadget freak. If it would be priced at $5k, then you have my complete attention.

Post edited to reflect true mileage of Ninja 250. Ignore any propaganda spewed off from ninja 250 fanboy sites.

BrassSteve 08-11-2004 01:00 AM

ninja 250, getting 110 mpg? my ass it does

but that hybrid needs to put its "fat" from the tank and put it in the rear

clonmult 08-11-2004 04:48 AM

An Indian company did a copy of the Royal Enfield bullet a few years back with a diesel engine (out of a cement mixer, I think) that got 200mpg.

Kinda why I like Hybrid Civics. They look like just that, a Civic.

On the note of this bike... The styling definatly needs revision, but I suppose they were trying to protect the electricals under that enormouis front cowl.

ummm no.. i had a Ninja 250 and it got about 250 miles per tank.....which was like 4-5 gallons.

Almo 08-11-2004 12:34 PM

Hahaha, they should call it the Quasi-Moto.

I apologise everyone. I will no longer listen to ninja 250 fanboy websites :(

I just am jealous. My 74 TS400 gets 15 mpg on a good day, and it just gets worse... The EPA should shoot me :(

catback 08-12-2004 04:50 PM

Great idea but no one will buy a bike that ugly, what's up with the camel hump, it's horrendous.

Flyguy 08-12-2004 11:13 PM

ditto

wisj2 08-13-2004 04:42 AM

My Goldwing gets 45 MPG and it will haul everything but the kitchen sink.

The giant egg on the tank has got to go. Even though the tech is light years ahead of my 30 year old Norton, I wouldn't have one.

Moonduck 08-13-2004 03:42 PM

As a former Marine buddy of mine says, "Excellent initiative! Poor judgement."

I think it's cool as hell, but wish they'd thought to make it look better and be a bit more performance-minded.
