I propose this thread gets locked, before the following people show up :
1) The $90,000 modified supra/civic can beat it 2) The $80,000 BMW can beat it 3) The stock WRX/Evolution/300Z/Skyline can beat them both on a road race 4) My car can beat it. 5) A lotus is the best car in the world. 6) American cars suck, why would anyone want to read this crap? 7) American cars get bad mileage. I bet they burnt 500 gallons of gas during the race! l0lz!!!!!one There, I've already covered all the bases, flamers plz leave. Last edited by BooRadley; 06-15-2004 at 09:45 PM.. |

My car could beat this easily.
Just kiddin, my car would get smoked by a stock Civic, or at least even. I am a Corvette fan myself, fairly cheap sports car for what you get (C6, 500hp stock with about 20k cheaper)

i'm always amazed at the level of "duh" we find when we look at drag races between car X and car Y. Car X always has like 5 billion dollars and the entire engineering staff of Lockheed's Skunkworks behind it while car Y is a bone stock vehicle that, at best, gets regular oil changes. Despite all that, people still insist that the race proves beyond a doubt that car X is far superior.
I think maybe I'll strap a jet engine to the roof of my Civic and drag race a ferarri. That'll prove once and for all that Honda OWNZ Ferarri, right? |

Here's an idea. Lets strap one of the boosters from the space shuttle on a civic, and launch it into orbit. Then, we can prove that the civic is the most superior vehicle ever made, as it is the
only car to ever go into space. It will also set a speed record going up. :roll eyes: |

Well, the Vette had it coming. I hate it when people with better cars talk down on cars they think are inferior, or when people go around bashing each others cars.
I own a mustang myself (duh, look at my name :-P) but vettes = T3h R0x

Pretty fun race. Those cars can easily be equally fast, due to have the closely same size engine stock and both are light, and you can do tons of mods to them.

Like what bodypainter said tho, if the shit at the intro was true, then the 'vette driver had it coming. Regardless, I feel the same as everyone else, as far as.. I'm not sure where this is going.
To recap, 'vette driver shouldn't have been talking shit .. Everyone that sees that video shouldn't believe that a Mustang will always beat a Corvette, and yea, people get way out of hand when it comes to racing and shit.. Oh well. Life goes on. What a rambler I am.

A kid I know has a few Mustangs he's modded. Pretty nice platform to build on. Pretty funny when people who think a wing, body kit, fart can, and cold-air intake makes them "Fast and Furious" talk shit and get their asses handed to them before he finishes lifting his foot off the clutch.
I think the moral of the story is that you shouldn't talk shit if you can't back it up, and well-modified will usually beat stock. |

Run what you brung? Ever heard? Don't argue, "if the vette had the same mods", he didnt. The c5 is about 45g brand new and I'm sure that fox body doesnt have 45g net invested in it. How do you know the c5 is stock? Just because it "looks" stock. There is always someone faster, and this time the stang came out on top.

The link wouldn't work for me but I'll chime in anyway. As others have said it is always funny when people compare apples and oranges. But with that said if both are up to racing then your comparing apples to apples. A true car nut doesn't expect to win every time -only spoiled rich kids have that fantasy. If you race there will always be someone faster, gauranted. If you really like to race and are good then you can get the suprise wins. A good friend had a Supra that by the book could NOT take a IROC Z28 yet he never lost a race to an IROC. He was good, now the 911 Porsche walked him like he was driving my escort, but he still enjoyed racing it.

I think for the most part vette drivers are notorious for doing this. The middle aged well to do (usuallly recently divorced) over-confident man seem to find that corvettes suit their needs. Very often however they can not drive them worth shit. |
