Classic US Iron

I would like to get some learned opinions from you regarding a couple of older American cars. I have seen a few advertised here in Australia for good prices and I wanted to know what the market for parts and spares was like in the US if I needed to get something.

I was looking at either a Jensen Interceptor MK2, a Rambler Javelin or a Rambler Hornet.

I am keen on the Interceptor and I have seen fully restored examples going for a song.

Any info or comments would be greatly appreciated.

The Jensen is a British car, albeit with a whopping great US V8 in the nose.
Fabulous style, swallows oil fields whole on the way to the shops, reliable mechanicals (see above), fabulous style...
The FF model was one of the first four wheel drive road cars, if you're interested in rally-style antics.
Make sure any interceptor you look at has been in Aus/US for most of its life, as rust is invariably an issue with cars left outside in Britain.

No idea about the Ramblers, but they really can't compare to the Jensen's brutish charm...Can they?

IIRC Rambler turned into (or was swallowed?) by AMC, so both of those cars i believe were sold under the AMC name. either way stateside AMC muscle cars (AMX, Hornet, Javelin, etc) have a cult following, with a strong aftermarket following, albeit considerablly smaller than GM?ford gorups and smaller still than the tradional Mopars. However it would be safe to say any part you would need would be available someplace stateside for enough cash.

Wont find much Ramblers still running up in Canada.....unless you look really hard!
