$29,100
AWD
3.2L V-6
240 bhp
236 lb-ft. @ 2800-3200 rpm
lowered 1" from other Golfs
18" wheels

0-60 = 5.8
1/4 mile = 14.1 @ 99.2 mph
braking 60-0 = 111 ft
skidpad (200-ft) = .85g
fuel economy = 19/26 mpg

i'd been wanting a WRX wagon, but this might be a strong competitor when i start looking at cars next year...only down side would be less interior room... i like the subtle appearances, the only changes from a regular Golf are the dual exhaust, wheels, lowered height, and badges all of which are subtle. looks sweet!

Yeah I heard about this car. Really cool. Solid design and executed well. Just wish it wasn't 30K.

matteo101 05-13-2004 04:58 PM

Awesome fucking ride, if I had 30 grand I would buy this car in an instant. I suggest it to anyone that does. Nuts fast quarter mile time, great suspension and braking, good on gas and AWD. Not to mention it looks pimp.

DEI37 05-13-2004 06:35 PM

It's a $30k Golf. And, it's a VW. It'll probably end up in the shop more than your driveway. Unless you don't drive it. We've got a black one...looks sharp, the interior is nice. We'll see about the reliability.

merkerguitars 05-13-2004 08:37 PM

If they made it in a TDI model I would buy it....

irseg 05-13-2004 08:42 PM

Hmm.. I think I'd buy an F-body to get comparable handling and gas mileage, with superior acceleration. The $20k savings would be a nice bonus, too.

bad30th 05-13-2004 11:47 PM

Holy overpriced-Golf Batman!

qtpye4u84 05-14-2004 01:26 AM

I want it I want it.
Its really fast I like to go fast.

not sure where you are going to find a new f-body for $10k... but if you are talking about used cars then obviously there are faster money options, i could get a used vette for less that would run circles around a new R32, that's not the point...

Scorps 05-15-2004 12:47 PM

Looks the same as the TDI, to the naked eye!

Jackebear 05-15-2004 11:18 PM

It is awesome. I saw one on the highway recently. I was going 140km/h and it BLEW by me. I owned 2 golfs ...Basic GL and later a VR6...never ever had a problem with them.

I would love to get this car.

castex 05-16-2004 03:30 AM

Fat, inert.

WannabeTFP 05-16-2004 08:34 AM

I have an Evo and I think this is a bad-ass ride.

Very impressive all around.

Atomic Pinkie 05-16-2004 09:06 AM

in terms of car magazines it got poor reviews mainly because they matched it up against the WRX Sti and the Evo, horribly out HP'd all the 'speed' numbers were lower.

They did state that it was the most comfortable!

This thing also has PADDLE SHIFTERS :)

Fun car no doubt.

WarWagon 05-16-2004 02:28 PM

It'd probably look a lot more appealing if they shaved $12k off the pricetag.

good call.....if it were in the same neighborhood as, say, the SRT-4 then yes this car would be badass.....cause god does it look better than the SRT-4 :p

omid 05-17-2004 02:35 PM

wow running a 14.1 on stock is pretty nice... but you could just get a WRX for that price. much nicer car imo.

Kurant 05-17-2004 02:48 PM

If your looking raw performence, STi I guess. But if your looking for a Euro-Car, with alot of balls, and doesn't give up simple things like comfortable seats, and fully funtional interiors and comes with a nice sounding stereo.. (cough STi doesn't have one at all). The japanese cars are basically econo-boxes with monster motors and superb handling. This is vehicle that is refined, and got that wonderful german taste. Don't get me wrong, the STi and Evo are decent cars, for what they are, but this is on a whole nother level. This thing out classes both of them. Not even a contest, this thing is so refined, it's an amazing car to see in person. Go check one out, you won't be dissapointed.

I'm in the market now that I've sold my M3 due to realizing the limitations of owning one living in Alaska, and the birth of my second child, and I've driven the Evo and the R32, and sat inside of an already sold STi (They only got a few of them up here) and the R32 IMO, for the price, is much, much nicer. It's basiclly a luxury Golf with performance to boot. God I love German cars.

EDIT: I just realized there is pics, I must go wash my underwear now. *drool*

Hondasport19 05-17-2004 04:22 PM

I think I'd take an Evo or an STi over it......but it is a nice vehicle with decent power.

Viking1064 05-23-2004 02:01 PM

My first car was the original 1983 GTI. I alsway feel a loyalty to VW, but I would get an STi or Evo for that kinda of $

Kurant 05-23-2004 02:11 PM

Guess it depends on the person too. All nice cars, all well worth the money, if that's what your looking for. I just think in the long run, people will get more enjoyment out of what the R32 offers to the driver, then the other 2.

Rippley 05-25-2004 03:01 AM

The reason to buy this over a WRX or an EVO would have to be the build quality and general feel of it. Where it get s spanked in the driving/speed/handling/etc., it is bound to be better put together, I'm no talking about the engine or anything. But the cabinplastics, switchgear, etc, is prolly of a higher, more "luxurious" quality overall. Making it "feel" more expensive, while spanking most things on European roads...

The 'cabin feel' might be better, but I'm willing to bet the Scooby has better switch-gear from a durability standpoint is better put together. The R32 looks sweet, and offers decent performance, but in terms of aftermarket, both the Scooby and the Evo are going to be easier and cheaper to modify.

I has an 01 Wolfsburg Jetta, and while it was a nice car, it had some little niggling problems that you typically don't see w/ Subaru (tho Mitsubishi isn't exactly known as a tower of reliability)

Atomic Pinkie 05-28-2004 02:32 AM

Another thing to consider when looking at magazine reviews and what not, the STi and Evo come with rally grade tires. One of the many reviews I read while sitting around at a Border's made the comment that they felt the R32 would without a doubt put a lot of pressure on the two Rally cars if it was equipped with better tires.
