gm tranny
my buddy has a 1977 gmc truck with a 350 and TH 350 tranny but he would like to put a five speed manual in it, does anyone know which tranny would be good and were i might get one.
|
I'd recommend a Tremec TKO 5 spd. I'd give these guys a call and see just what the swap would entail. There is definitely going to be some kind of fabrication involved in the process, whether it be with the bellhousing, tunnel, definitely the driveshaft/joints, etc. http://5speedtransmissions.com/

yeah the fabrication is no problem i just want to know what everyone thinks is a good tranny and which ones to stay away from
|
Hmm Tremec TKO...that is one strong tranny......

Is it worth it?
I mean a 77 truck!! You have to change the flywheel, driveshaft, you have the clutch pedal to contend with, possibly the other pedals. And the spedometer is probably not going to fit. Then you have the old gear selector which is probably on the tree which you will always see. Yadda yadda yadda. Unless you were doing some complete rebuild, that thought would never even cross my mind. |
dude i know everything that has to be fixed i just want people to tell me there opinions on aftermarket trannys
|
I was thinking of doing that to my 82 chevy van but I don't have the cash I used to anymore:(
