I'll warn you, you'll never see anything bad on a Carfax report. I've seen a vehicle that was hit by a truck that floated into it during a flood come up as clean title three years later. It's a tool that dealers use to put your mind at ease.

MSD, maybe in your experience, they haven't all come up with the complete history, but a lot of us have turned away from cars because they didn't come up clean. Its definately not just a marketting scam.

Just because it shows clean doesn't necessarily mean that its clean, but if it shows up with problems, you know something really is wrong with it. I think its worth checking with every perspective car. Worst case : it shows nothing wrong when something is, and your no worse off than you were if it you never checked it in the first place. Best case : you walk away from a POS instead of getting stuck with it.
