its a good fair comparison of Zaino polish, Zymol polish, and Meguiars wax.
So, what do you use?

Cynthetiq 05-03-2003 03:44 PM

interesting....I actually haven't waxed a car in ages...

Interesting. I've used the walmart zymol for a while. Mainly cause it was easy to apply and lasted well enough to make me happy. Price is also pretty decent. Never have tried any of the high buck waxes and have also heard the turtle wax possibilties about this wax too.

any wax is fine for me but i prefer something with carnauba for extra shine

Eagle One Wet works pretty good on my car.

i use Meguiars, obviously in that test it didn't come out on top but the fact that they included it in the 4 of a WHOLE LOT of waxes out there makes me think it's still good enough for my car :D

Collegestudent 05-04-2003 05:16 PM

meguiars is the only way to go

SweetVroom 05-04-2003 07:24 PM

meguiars and zanio..

Use the 3M professional line if you can find it. That is what 90% or something like that of autobody and detail shops use. It is awesome stuff, although a bit pricey. That is all I use and it works great.

I used Meguires Gold on my 93 black Maxima and loved it, sooo nice.

I have some Turtle Wax 3000 or something, it was free with a turtle wax detailing kit I recieved for winning first place with the Maxima at a car show. It came with the wax, tire finish, interior finish, and one other thing (cant remember what it was.... maybe wheel cleaner?). I used the turtle wax on the hood while I was buffing out the scratches as a temperary sealant.

I would use the tire shine occasionally, but my mom used more than half the bottle on her car and my step dads surburban, along with our 91 Jimmy (why bother with that car?). I dont really care. I basically set the turtle stuff out for them to use and hid the meguires for the Maxima. I use meguires gold car wash and it makes it soo much nicer/easier to wash your car, especially during the pollen season.

I have some Zaino stashed away and havent used it yet. I was going to use it on my 93 maxima, but crashed it before I could :(

I will be using it on the mustang as soon as I get it repainted, right now its not worth waxing.

Wheel cleaner is worthless to me because I use paste wax on my wheels. It makes it effortless to clean them, and you can do it with just a paper towel or napkin (or your shirt/sock/hand) in a parking lot or anywhere.

I usually get whats onsale at Big Lots because they get all of those waxes that you see on infomercials for like 5 bucks instead of the 20 it is on TV.

I dont know what I would do without my orbital buffer. It was the best thing I ever bought.

#1 key in waxing: Using a cleaner before the wax to take off all of the dead paint. My 92 Explorer is black and its a completely new color once I get all of the dead paint off.

I have tried almost everything that I can think of but I always go back to Super Glaze by the Wax Shop. Resonably priced yet goes on easy, off easy and leave one hell of a shine.

Interesting that the 2 top finishers are polishes. If you use a polish every time you'll eat the clearcoat away. Polish is only for occasional use to fix swirl lines or mild scratches.

Also interesting that they used the liquid meguiars when the better wax is the paste.

MrGone 05-05-2003 08:35 PM

I use the paste wax every 3 months or so. Everytime I wash the car I generally take off the previous wax. I only use the paste wax on the wheels because it is much easier to apply and monitor than liquid wax, plus I think it lasts longer and is cheaper for the ammount you get.
