BOUGHT one of these today...
(Edited because I am now the prospected owner of...)
Acura TL, 270hp, 6spd manual transmission w/ navigation system and high performance tires. Dark gray metallic exterior, gray leather interior (last 2 pics) http://www.acura.com/images/tl/tl_wall1_ext_800x600.jpg http://www.acura.com/images/tl/tl_wall3_ext_800x600.jpg http://www.acura.com/images/tl/tl_wa...xt_800x600.jpg http://www.acura.com/images/tl/tl_wall2_int_800x600.jpg Tons of space, dreamy comfortable seats, lots of little gadgets, goes like a motherfucker. It'll take 2 weeks to get here, then it's MINE! |
I've got five on it! :D
Beautiful car....I think it will be well worth your money
In the pic from the rear it looks like a cross between a caddie and a bimmer. All in all though it should be a nice as the last TL or more gooder even.
Sweet car, but why did you do some mods to Nadia if you were gonna get rid of her?
That car is a little too grown up for me. Maybe when I'm 45 I'd want something like that. For that price I'd get an S2000. |
Looks a lot like a Mazda 6. I like the interior, though.
Very nice car. I have a couple co-workers that speak very highly of that model. I personally have never driven one, but there aren't many Acuras that I don't like driving.
That is a boss car. I love the shot of the interior. And that has the DVD-Audio system that everyone is absolutely blown away by.
Nice looking car =) and congrats on getting a new one
Love everything about that car except the navi.

very sexy-looking car, Hal :)

ha ha ha LOL
very nice choice HALX, very nice |
Love that car.
I got screwed because I sprung for an '03 Accord V6, 6 months later this particular Acura came out. They had the Acura TL S-Type out back then, which was slower than the Accord and handled like an old Cadillac. I love the Accord, but I banged my head into the wall over and over again when I saw this car come out. Smooooth ride. Let us know how it goes... |

What's wrong with me getting a grown-up car?
All of Acura's other models are underpowered rebadged japanese Accords and Civics. I all ready HAVE an Accord. The other 2 cars I was looking at was a Cadillac CTS and an Infiniti G35. Well, the CTS is heavier, has less power, less storage, and less engine life for much more $$$. Also, a lot of people think that the CTS is ugly. The G35 4-door has less power and it's all over the road. As for the G35 2-door, while on the outside it is a design masterpiece, it is almost identical to the car I have now on the interior, except for the giant power differential and the fact that you can hardly store a small golf bag in the trunk. The TL is a great looking car with balls, which is hard to find in today's market. I can't wait till it gets here. |

Although, I'm sure I could get used that beautiful display in the dash rather quickly. ;) It's good to see you're gonna get a 6 speed. Automatic sucks! |

Admittedly, I have a real bad image problem when it comes to cars. I like being seen in my car as a young guy who is mature ahead of his time. While Nadia is a great looking car, I get too much recognition as a tuner and a racer (a BMW was pestering me just last night) in an Accord. Time to step it up a notch.
You will love that car. Another guy at work just got a TL... drool, it is lux with quite a bit of sport in it. Very well balanced car between lux, comfort and handling.

Before you buy, you might wanna take a look at this:
2005 Chrysler 300C 340hp Hemi V8 390 ft-lb $32K Not sure what to make of it...nice numbers, though. More info & pics here. |
That thing amost reminds me of a bently with that big ol' grill. Looks quite nice!
heh. I'll take the TL. The precision of Honda/Acura cars is legendary, and I've driven the new TSX (very close to the TL) and it is NICE.
That 300C looks like a K-car with a thyroid problem. |
That car looks like an old people car AND it's american so it probably wont last past 100K the way I drive. Sorry to shoot you down, but I'm a big fan of imports because they last longer.
If I wanted blind power, I'd just get a mustang cobra, but if there is one car that more people out here own than a Honda Accord, it is a Ford Mustang. So there's a few more points for the TL... If I were to take a date out in it, and she didn't think it was mine, she'd at least think, "Did you borrow your parents' car?" as opposed to, "Did you borrow your grandparents' car?" |

You're gonna love the TL, its a helluva a car at any price. |
Good choice. Classy, Unique and balls. Stick stoo!
I really like this car. That's a prime choice in my book.
That is one nice car. A prime choice for me too. I'm jealous :P
good choice, the interior is beautiful.in my opinionn the g35 coupe would tie for my no1 choice. i'd have to drive them to decide though. the g has a plain looking interior
Nice interior in that Acura. That 300C is just a poor man's Bentley.
When is Acura rolling out the new CL, RL and NSX. If the improvments are as significant as those on the TL i cant wait!!!
Halx is that car front or rear wheel drive?
front
yeah, it's front... it's basicly what I'm used to
Sweet ride. Sticker is???
looks sharp, hope you enjoy it
Walked past one the other night as it drove by and immediately looked them up on Acura's homepage. They look stunning in person. Sweet engine note out of the exhaust. Nice lines to the body. Beautiful wheels. I could see the gauges through the window looked really cool at night. I think you will be really happy. Good choice in my opinion HALX.<p>I will drive the ol' 92 Accord for quite awhile before one of those comes my way.
Damn thats a car... I wish i could get some money for something that nice.
shame you spent all that extra $$$ on nadia if you are just going to be this car. it would have been such a great downpayment.
I absolutely love the interiors of those. it has a definate cockpit feel to it and with the large display on the console and bright display on the gauges I bet that would be a blast to drive.
sweet TL, I'm jealous
The TL is a dope car indeed. 3 good friends of mine own one. The things that kept me away from it was....
1)Built in the US, yes even the engine is built here. 2)Rattles.........i hope Acura will soon acknowledge this and have a recall soon. 3)Side marker lights are always on. I was hoping they would blink when you turn on your signals. 4)Too big for me. Thats why I own a TSX soon to be Blown TSX. :D Other than that, the car is awesome and worth every penny. I've come across many dealerships that are offering the 6sp/navi for 2g's off MSRP. What more can you ask for in a car tho.....270hp, 6spd, dvd audio, touch screen huge navi, 3d climate control, brembo brakes.....any more coo shit. Halx I hope you get the A-spec underbody spoiler........it's hot! Here are some pics of a members car at acuraworld.com. BTW i'm a mod there for the tsx forum. Come join us. http://www.acurainspired.com/gallery...769_p22349.jpg http://www.acurainspired.com/gallery...769_p22363.jpg http://www.acurainspired.com/gallery...769_p22366.jpg |
Nice ride... but I woulda threw down on a 2005 Vette ;)
Very nice. Personally, though, I'd have gone with the Infiniti G35 if I was going for Asian import.
Booty Man
1) It's still a honda at heart, ya know? 2) That issue is linked to the tires that come stock with the car, and I intend to use that little fact, along with a few other defects that people have mentioned on other boards to pay no more than 32K for it. 3) It dont bother me! 4) Size matters! :p About the A-spec stuff.. I am gonna stay away from customizing this car. If, maybe in 9 months, they still offer that stuff, then maybe I'll try somethin' One main thing that's attracting me to it.. is that I don't see it all over the place! Man, I can't make a trip to the store without catching a G35 on the road. I probably see one TL a week around where I live. I guess it could help that the nearest dealer is 40 min away. |
The car is really nice, but I agree with sixate that I'm not ready for a "grown-up car" like that. I'll take a 350Z for less and have money to take a vacation.
270 hp is too much for front wheel drive, otherwise that looks like a sweet car.

You definitely have to get the OEM Kit for the TL........it's hot. Just don't get it from the dealer. I know a place that has the kit for around $830 shipped and painted.

Looks great to me! Nice car.....270hp wow nice.
No Offense to anybody, but that Chrysler 300 actually gave me a headache, the dash looks like a toy car. It just does not fit that car...The controls anfd guages look like they were ripped out of a New Beetle, and the steering wheel looks loke those cheap glasses my grandma used to wear....
btw Halx, good idea for the TL, those are sharp.... |
nice car, hope you have fun in it. if you don't, you can always give it to me
Having owned and driven an Acura CL Type S for the past two years, I can tell you that you will really like this car. The driving position is very comfortable, it has pretty good power and handles pretty well too. Also, it has decent fuel economy although using premium exclusively can be expensive. Good luck with the car, it's a fine choice.
a badass car to say the very least, although I am still partial to the Maxima........they are both luxurious and quick for a v6 front driver
Such a beautiful car.
Very nice; impressive road presence and very solid-looking.
I don't really like all this Acura/Lexus/Infiniti business, however. Why don't they just call them what they are (Honda/Toyota/Nissan) instead of trying to hoodwink us with their marketing BS? Great choice, anyway. |
Congratulations. That is a beautiful automobile.
it looks like every other fucking sedan out there, maybe it's under the hood is where it counts.

aside from the fact that it's got the best engine and best interior in it's class, i really gotta say.. you must not pay much attention to the market if you think that. |
Halx, excellent choice and good reasoning behind it. Beemer maybe?
Definitely a good choice. Acura is a great car company. I have a 2001 CL - S and never have regreted it. I love the new TL, hoping something comes in 2 doors similar to it. I prefer a coupe but TL is a sweet sedan. Good luck with your new toy.
WHoooooooo!!!! I bought it!!!!!!!!
congrats to you!
I've moved from buying a MINI to buying some income property... appreciating assets first... then the depreciating ones. delayed gratification... I'll get the MINI maybe next year. |
Sweet deal, keep us updated on initial impressions, gripes (I don't think you will have many), and things you really like. Veryy cool car I am envious.
Sweet ride Hal, I agree to stay away from the 300 it has so many different designs that they tried to steal from other cars it doesn't know what it wants to be, but I agree with shakran the best description I've heard yet is the K car with a thyroid problem.
Is it not just a Honda Accord underneath?
Quote:
This will personally be my 3rd 'accord' Now the difference between the TL and the Accord is ... well... LOOK at it! 3.2L V6, 24 valve, 270@6200hp Dont make me go into all the neat gadgets in this thing. |
Please do go into all the neat gadgets halx! Awesome looking car btw, you can never ever go wrong with a Japanese car, honda at that.
I have one myself and its a sweet car. It isn't even comparable to an Accord, drive both and you will see. Mine is silver on black interior with 5AT. My only complaint about the car is the lack of a 60/40 split rear seat. There is no torque steer and it handles great.
ok.. this is off the top of my head..
DVD-Audio stereo 6-cd in dash changer built-in XM radio 225-watt stereo w/ sub hands free link, bluetooth link so you can make cell phone calls through the car navigation system.. one of the best I hear dual zone climate control it even has a GPS that detects the position of the sun and adjusts the climate control accordingly high performance tires brembo brakes ... there's much more I know I'm forgetting |
Very nice car, the interior is sick.

Halx, despite what others are thinking, I reckon you've bought the best car in it's category and price range. Let us know your impressions of it upon delivery!
Halx, I just drove a TL with the 6 speed a couple of days ago, and holy SHIT I was impressed. That thing's got some serious get-up-and-go for a car that size. The handling was excellent. The fit and finish should make BMW think about getting into a different business. The nav system was hands down the best factory nav I've ever seen.
I didn't notice that bit about the sun-position-sensing climate control. From what I saw, you just set the temp you want on each side and it does its thing without you doing anything else. Must have been something I missed and that the dealership lady didn't explain to me - that wouldn't surprise me since she informed me that the TL's front strut tower brace was to keep it from diving when you hit the brakes. Good leather that you don't slip around on, very comfortable car, and a good performer to boot. That is one 4 door I would not at all mind having. |
