What ride you have (for real)

Hey,
I just wanna find out what you have for rides. With your ages and where you come from , mods on your car, $$$ put in it and the futur of your ride.

Ill go first.

Im 20, I live in Canada Quebec, still in school and wanna go south after everything is done.

My baby is a Acura Integra 1995 RS. I got it in june of 2003
with no major mods, altezza lights , front lip and a medium sound system (pioneer, 12inch sub).

Future:

17inches rims, full body lip and maybe a computer chip,
but I would like some info on that chip if anyone can tell me if I can put it on a stock motor or if i gotta change the headers and/or the exaust on it.

My car is a 1982 Plymouth reliant. And i hate it.

however, Death, if you are looking for speed out of your car. don't expect much. And no offense, you're car sounds very riced out, and you're planning on more...

If you're serious about speed, or performance, either look to get a GSR if you must stay with an acura, or get a DSM(eclipse/talon/laser) Just make sure its turbocharged w/ AWD. and yes, that was my unwanted .02

thadon 01-06-2004 02:39 PM

well I used to have 2 cars, my avitar and a 2003 Dakota Quad Cab, I sold my avitar though. I am 30 and from Atlanta, GA

I'd love to put the cams and intake from the h.o. 4.7L v8 on my 4.7 b/c my engine is 230hp and the h.o. version is 270hp

Then I'd put a kenne bell supercharger on it

I have no complaints, it gets me to and from classes. When I graduate I hope to upgrade.

Right now I have a '99 BMW M3. Haven't done too much to it, though. Clear lights all around and Euro headlights. Still love the car but I'm thinking about moving on. If I can wait I'd love the new Aston Martin DB8 when it finally emerges. If I can't wait, then I'm digging the new 6 series.

don't bother chipping your integra until you do something that would require the chip, such as forced induction. Spend your money elsewhere, such as suspension, tires, brakes, intake/header/exhaust, etc.

BTW, take the top half of your airbox off, then mount a piece of plexiglass vertically between the air box and the engine, and you'll find you've gained more power. The stock intake before the filter in the integra loops through the fender in a weird french horn shaped tube. You lost a lot doing it that way.

DEI37 01-06-2004 04:29 PM

I've got two cars. Both still stock, really. The first is a 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme 4-door. It's got a pathetic 3100 V6 in it. Car's got 126,7xx miles on it. It's slated for an engine swap this spring...to a modified GM supercharged 3800 drivetrain. Should be good for a 120+ hp increase over what I have now.

The other car is a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 2-door. It's got the 3.4 DOHC V6. It's equipped with the HUD, too. That's cool. That car will stay as-is, I think, unless I change the timing belt, and modify the cam timing. I suppose I'll do a custom exhaust as well, since the cat is plugged.

Death_alive 01-06-2004 04:45 PM

I forgot to say that i removed the stock intake. New intake but not the long AEM one. Its only sitting on the top and every one that test drive my integ find it growls to loud. But I got that Tim Taylor syndrom ... more sound? well MORE POWER ... i dyno tested it and came ou with 160hp?!?! I think the last owner played with the pistons and cams not sure still its not the gsr motor.

By the way are those chips on EBAY worth buying? 20$ ?!?!

and i like your rides ppl. keep em coming

majik_6 01-06-2004 08:25 PM

20, male, West Virginia, at school in Athens, OH.

I've got my driver, a '98 Mustang, basically stock with a glass pack and a chrome tip (a real welded one, not the cheaper kind) just because I couldn't leave it TOTALLY stock. I'm painting it, slapping on some rims, and dropping in a system (and maybe a bigger engine) as soon as I get my shop up and running.

My baby, however, is a 1992 Chevy S10 X-cab. It was once black, but it's mostly primer now since I've been doing some bodywork (both custom and repair work) trying to get it ready. It's got airride, shaved side mirrors, a basic straight pipe exhaust dumping behind the cab, and a molded rearend right now. By summer, it'll hopefully have 20" rims, suicide doors, a new system, a new interior (I stripped it so I could do some fiberglass work), Cadillac taillights (just looking for the time to weld in the buckets), and a fully shaved exterior, covered up in a custom House of Kolors paintjob. I wouldn't be able to afford much new stuff at all (college and such) if I wasn't opening a shop sometime in the spring. I bought it at a slightly high price when I was fifteen, and have probably sunk about 15x it's current book value into it since then. But, it's well worth it to me, since it always has been and always will be my baby...even if it could use a new engine.

Nice cars, everyone!

20, San Diego, California.

Its a 1987 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4x4 manual w/ 4.0L. Totally stock. Almost entirely original parts...so suspension is pretty much in need of every bushing, balljoint, and bearing in need of being replaced. Love the car to death though. The darn thing just wont die. Rock solid, and still goes offroad and tears up many a newer car.

Future plans : Keep it running. Maybe when i start workin and get some money ill replace the worn suspension parts, and get a new pair of shocks, spring, and maybe tires. After that....save for when the engine dies i guess.

Pretty damn cool for a 16 year old car! I wish American car companies were still that innovative. I've been thinking of getting a new car, but I really like my T-Bird and it just won't die. Plus it's fun to see the look on the drivers' faces when their nice new car gets outrun by a big old 4-cylinder Ford. Did that to a ~2000 Maxima a few weeks ago.

Best part is, I paid $1200 for it 3 years ago. :D

I suppose I'll throw minein the mix

20, CT

97 Buick Century.

Current mods:
New CD player/radio that I saved from the trash when I worked at Radio Shed.
Some goofy-ass blue LED strips (that look like they were wired by a 10-year-old) and a couple of neon blue lights under the dash that pulse to the music.
"Custom" paint streaks on the bumper that were generously donated by someone who apparently has a white car and doesn't know how to park. Worst part is that I just had the thing repainted 4 months ago ...
215's on the rear instead of the stock 205's (OK, I admit it, I just took the almost new tires when we junked the old Town Car, I couldn't afford 4 new tires and didn't want almost brand new P400's to go to waste.)
Pilot driving lights with remote control. I got the rectangular ones and they fit perfectly under the bumper

Future plans:
Supercharged 3800 engine (replacing current 3100) form a Buick Riviera.
Manual transmission - whatever FWD GM tranny I can get that will work with the 3800s, possibly from Saturn Ion (Ion Redline if I can find one at a junkyard.
Rims, or at least get around to putting hubcaps on.

And my personal motto: "It's not broken, it's modified"

1975 Ford F-100 92,000 miles 302 v8 with a C4 automatic and a ford 9" rear end custom wooden bed because original had rusted into nothing.

1992 Jeep Wrangler my baby Had a 4.0 6cylinder and 904 automatic I swapped a Golens stroker motor into it, it is a 4.6 liter 6 cylinder took the horsepower from 195 to 300 and the torque went from 225 to 385lbsft. I removed the leafspring suspension and put a 7 inch lift using long travel arms and coil springs on it. The tranny was swapped out for a 727 with reverse valve body. I swapped the original transfer case out for an Atlas with a 4.3-1 low range .The axles were weak so I went with Dana 60 high pinion conversions front and rear with 4.56 gears. It currently rides on 35 inch BFG all terrain KM's (mud tires) when they wear out I plan on going up to 37 inchers. Some day I might take some time and fix the jeep up :D but until then I guess I will have to settle for how it is right now.

27 from NC, I am a Project Engineer for a Construction Co.

I have 2 trucks and my wifes car

My wife has a 04' Nissan Maxima (sweet car) but I rarely get to drive it.

My everyday truck is a 03' Nissan Fontier Crew Cab 4x4. (great truck)

And my baby is a 95' Dodge Ram 4x4 regular cab. 3" lift, tires and wheels, K&N air filter, westin step bars. I plan to rebuid the motor and re-program the computer. I want to add performance exhaust headers a high-flow cat and exhaust. A few more inches would not hurt either.

I want to ask a quick question is a 1987 Pontiac Firebird any good to buy?

Red t-top, 2.8, 5 spd., total overhaul, numerous new parts, int. mint, ext. good, cert., 127 km. $3000 or b.o.

Hey mazdaspeed guys, wanted to know if your speeds are hyper sensible...i got a pal that has one and to bug him i only give tiny kick on hes rubbers and hes speed horn go's once. If i do it 3 times the alarm goes on. Juste wanted some info on that.
thanks
(and any tricks to turn it down a bit?)

Yes it is really sensative, but it's adjustable, I have mine turned way up so that pretty much anything set it off.

As for adjusting it, underneath the drivers side, up under the steering colum there's a small black box probably no bigger then a deck of card, it has a very small white knob on one side. Just adjust the knob till you find the right sensativity that you like.

Death_alive 01-14-2004 06:34 PM

okay cool...
And he wants to boost hes speed with 3500$ he dosent want to tell me what hes gonna put in... well what mazda gonna put in(supposedly the company will upgrade it). Is it a bigger turbo and a good blowoff + a bigger intercooler, and damn that intercooler is small).
Cuz he was pissed that my Integra had beaten him on the 0-100 but after he got pass me.
(umm that 0-100kmh... so 0-60mhz)

Well, i have no clue on the price...but its got the 2.8? Ick...that would be enough right there for me to walk away from it.

Here we go: Age 18, male, Metro Detroit, 2001 Limited Edition Chrysler PT Cruiser, silver, and currently 1 busted rim thanks to Michigan's fine, fine winter weather.

Yup, I've met only 1 other person in the state my age that drives a PT Cruiser. Since I'm just finishing up HS, I've got no money to blow on any mods, bleh.

But I must say, I praise the designers for making the back seats fold down! :) ;)

madsenj37 01-14-2004 09:43 PM

22, from Marin County, CA

I have had a 2004 Mazda RX-8 for 4 months now. No mods to date.

My previous car was a 1987 BMW 325 E. IT had bavarian autosport springs, bilstein touring shocks, ansa muffler, a chip, K&N filter and a Carsound catalyst. Went from a 4 to 6 speaker system + a subwoofer. Had a pioneer cd deck, 6 mb quartz speakers, a crossfire 450 watt amp and a lanzar sub.

Well, for reference, my '89 RS Camaro had a good exterior, nice clean interior, 5.0 (305) V8, ran pretty well, and cost me 2100 from a dealer. However, it doesn't have t-tops and my father and I had a hell of a time diagnosing a problem (bad fuel pump) and spent ~$800 diagnosing and fixing it.

I still would only go for a 2.8 at 1500, MAYBE 1800. No more. 3K is WAY too much.

This thread is depressing. My ride sucks compared to you guys. I'm 24 and I drive a '91 Chevy Corsica with 197,000 miles. It has the 3.1 V6, but the upholstery is coming apart, some of the trim panels are missing from when someone broke into my car and stole the stereo and speakers out of it. The paint is coming off, and it has some suspension problems I haven't got around to fixing. Paying for tools when I was a mechanic, and then college has prevented me from getting something nicer. But at least I don't have student loans or other debts to pay off, so as soon as I get a job I'll be able to get a new car.

I'm kinda new here, but this is what i have.

I'm 21 and live in Los Angeles, CA.

I have a 1994 toyota celica ST. This WAS a slow car.
Recently, (about 1 week ago ) i finished swaping in a JDM 3sgte motor from a st185. I also upgraded to a custom FMIC and HKS BOV. I will take a picture of the car soon, but first i need to finish one more thing on it. I was missing the support for the passenger axle, and I hope to have it running on the street by this weekend.

As for the body, i currently have a Veilside body kit on it, which i'm glad to say i'm going to get rid of real soon. I hate how it looks because it's kinda cheesy, and everyone who owns a 94-99 celica usually puts that kit on. So when i get rid of it, i'm going to do a 95 GT-4 JDM front end conversion.

:(
18 yo Northern Virginia, in college.
1994 Toyota Camry, family hand-me-down, 150k miles. Believe it or not, no mods! Unless you include a broken antenna motor a mod. And a steering wheel that doesn't really move when it's cold before it has a few seconds to warm up. :( However I must say with only one major tune-up in its lifetime (about two years ago) it still runs great, still has climate control superior to a lot of friends' newer cars', and it has persevered through auto abuse not fit for a poor old Camry.
Soon will get rid of it and have mommy buy me a used 2.5 RS. It's that or a Civic, people, mom dictates! I will take the Soobie and I will love it. I have no choice.
So there you go. I feel like crap.

1980 Malibu Wagon: Strip-only car, hoping to be the first 10.5 tire Malibu Wagon running 8's in the next few years (pictured in the avatar)

1979 Firebird: My first car, my baby, my pride and joy. Finished up a 400 swap a short while ago, restored the interior to factory original, paint is okay, but will be getting redone in the near future. She's given quite a few fellas a surprise on the highway :-D

1983 RX7: Currently my daily driver when I'm not at school. Fun little car to drive, no aftermarket mods currently other than exhaust. I'll be tossing in some stuff off the showroom floor to compete in some stock and super stock dB classes this summer probably.

If I can find one, I DESPERATELY want a Datsun 510 2 or 4dr, but have found nothing closer than the west coast. If anybody knows of one around the Ohio area or anywhere in between OH and CT, please let me know.

About the Mazdaspeeds:

Over here, they call it an Etude, and its a pretty normal "mid-size" family sedan. The top of the range is a 180iE, which lacks any real go. I've creamed thm witm my cousin's Corrolla at the strip, and I dont even reall race. What's the US spec?
