Help with a speedometer not working

Let me start with what we are working on:
1997 Mercury Sable with the OHV 3.0L engine in it, if anyone is familiar with the ford taurus of the same model year... its 1996 to 2000 all of them are the same.

I just did a rebuild on the car and put new heads on, everything went fine car runs great, however, the speedometer no longer works. I have been told in fords there is a huge corlation with car preformance and the car getting an input from the Vehicle speed sensor. So what i am wondering is if anyone has some quick places for me the check on the car to see if everything is in order, i have looked it over so many times now, i know i am just missing my mistake... so any help i can get would be great. Thanks

I have the same problem in my 1988 BMW 325, there was a similar thread about it farther back. I am almost certian they quit for different reasons in our vehicles.
It does suck a lot to not know how fast you are going, it's been like 3 months like that in my car......0 tickets (radar detector)
