Jaguar?

Looking at a 94 XJS. Price is 6900. ITs pretty cherry. 69 K miles etc. Opinions? Good or bad? Anyone with experiance with jags?

thanks

pre 95 had consistent issues in the electrical system. take it to a jag mechanic and have it looked over and also request detailed maintenance records on the vehicle (standard stuff for any used purchase). if it checks out ok: go for it. the price is nice and it is definitely a good looking model.

I never have heard anything good about them, and pre 95 jags were notorious for unreliability. Check the recalls and gov data at cars.com or cartalk.com before seriously considering it. You could get in over your head if you buy without a thorough inspection by a competent jag mechanic. I did extensive research on jags as I was seriously considering purchasing a mid 80s XJS. Granted , the 90s are better but not by much...

Sounds good. If it goes through and looks ok, then it is a GREAT deal... I paid that much for my thunderbird.

I had a 89 v12 xjs convertible and a friend of mine has a 93 xjs. I love these cars. Smooth as silk.

apparently their transmission are made of paper or some such perishable. I have a friend who owns and runs an e-type, that he restored himself. constant issues with the tranny, and apparently they haven't gotten better since the J-gate autos... Is it auto or manual?

Edit: But they are pretty...:D

see a jag dealer while they looked nice looks could be deceiving especially with a Jag

another downside of jags at the time is the dollar versus british pound exchange rate. you will have to ay extra for english parts because of the dollar exchange. great cars if manitained, the lucas electric was changed for bosch years ago and made a world of difference. not cheapto maintain but beautifull car.
