I saw this and had to share. IMHO I don't think that the premium to pay for an Acura badge on top of the high price of a Civic in comparison makes it a worthwhile vehicle.

I do like the tail lights and front fascia. It's different.

laconic1 10-08-2003 05:44 PM

Wow, they didn't even try to make it look different. Almost like the Cadillac Cimmaron in the lack of effort department.

ElwoodBlues 10-08-2003 07:02 PM

wait, is this a production model? On sale in the US?

wakelagger 10-08-2003 07:03 PM

The internals of similar model Honda's and Acura's are pretty much the same, so I guess it was only time before it progressed to the body of the car.

0001 10-08-2003 07:44 PM

here the price difference is negligable...

madsenj37 10-08-2003 11:45 PM

Acura does not exist in Japan. Honda sells everything under the Honda name there. Acura is just a brand name associated with quality for the rest of the world.

ducati999 10-09-2003 09:19 PM

a more expensive civic.....why

Lestat 10-09-2003 11:06 PM

Man, I was thinking the same thing when I seen it on the freeway! Acura not looking too good (and this is from an Acura owner) the cars are starting to look bland (even the RSX).

Japan does a lot of things that make sense....like sell cars under the manufacturer's label, (Toyota, Nissan, Honda) instead of a 'luxury' label (Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura, respectively). Also, their car models are the year it was produced....not the next year. So you can't buy a 2004 model car...until a little after 2004 begins. And so on...stupid logical Japanese automotive industry making us look vain and confusing :-)

you said it! :D

shakran 10-10-2003 07:42 PM

except for the fake wood crap and the chrome around the gauge faces I don't really see any difference between that thing and the civic. At least when the Integra was sold there were obvious differences despite the fact that it was just a civic with a bigger engine.

ducati999 10-11-2003 12:43 PM

This model is actually a model apparently I think only sold in Canada...check out the acura canada webpage....

yeah, Canada ONLY....

that's the 1.7EL, and the one before it is the 1.6EL...

arcane 10-12-2003 02:46 AM

yeah....canada does weird stuff with honda badging.

i remember that on the older canadian civics an "Si" model was the american "Ex" and that if you wanted the american "Si" model in canada then you had to get the "SiR" model.

strange our neighbours to the north

pezking4 10-12-2003 07:20 PM

Kinda like the Acura TSX is just a rebadged Type R Accord

Peryn 10-12-2003 08:37 PM

Yeah, at first i was skeptical, thinking the acura had a very similar body, but that it was a much larger sedan. Checked out hondacanda and acuracanada webpages, specifications are basically the exact same. I just closed the window, but the canadian Acura had and extra 10HP or so over teh civic if i remember right.

No it's not. It's a rebadged european Accord. The type R is faster.

(that said, the TSX rocks. If you can afford it, it's an awesome car!)

ace81385 10-13-2003 05:12 PM

ya i wouldnt buy a rebadged civic lol or the acura acquivalent either way thats hilarious

hmm maybe I meant to just say JDM/Euro Accord. I remember reading it in a recent Sport Compact Car.

BoCo 10-17-2003 04:34 PM

It doesn't even have power seats!?!

Peryn 10-17-2003 04:39 PM

Dont forget, no matter how many ways you spell it, or whos name is on it, a civic is still an econobox...not a racecar, and not a luxory sedan.

never 10-19-2003 10:01 PM

yea its a civic with the tailights a bit modified. Thats all it is

I am sorry but I have a hard time understanding this,

a lexus ES is a rebadged camry, a Infiniti I, is a rebadged Maxima, as a Acura rl is a redone Accord.

Here is the 2004 Civic, I have already serviced them.
