Stupid looking ricers

I dont understand why someone would do this to a somewhat normal looking car. I can understand wanting to put rims and a body kit on your car if that is your thing...but i can't believe what they did to this car

anyways....post your off the wall ricer car pictures. id like to see if any look worse than this one

Halx 09-24-2003 11:29 PM

Ok.. allow me to argue for the poor dude...

I designed this car to stop traffic and the end result does exactly that.
This design may be in horribly bad taste, but it gets the job done, right?

true...beauty is in the eye of the beholder
but would you be caught dead driving that thing?
;)

newman 09-25-2003 01:33 AM

commit suicide. only option when driving/owning that. i've seen worse though.

Rippley 09-25-2003 03:22 AM

Oh, come on... Give the guy a some slack. I think its kinda cool. Wouldn't wanna drive it every day, but hey, once in a while, just for kicks, sure!

bundy 09-25-2003 04:01 AM

i wonder how much money he invested into this car?
if the current bid is at $15000 they´ve got to be making a bit of money out of it.
good luck to them.
hope a bit of that cash goes to charity.
is there a charity that helps improve the terrible scourge that is ricing cars.

jwoody 09-25-2003 04:26 AM

It is only fair that we should honour those master craftsmen who dedicate their lives to turning ordinary automobiles into individual mobile works of art.

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you....

A mazda MX-5 (miata) and a SKODA.

I challenge anyone to argue the case for this next 4:

http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RwDcA...40268714035233

From the mind of a moron.

Ratman 09-25-2003 05:12 AM

Sorry, I like the Miata.

Kurant 09-25-2003 05:23 AM

Hell ya, that Miata is pretty cool looking.

The one with the wooden body hit is funny as hell.. hahal

jwoody 09-25-2003 05:32 AM

The source for the pics above:

http://www.topgear.com/content/fun_stuff/carbage/

Loads more crappy conversions.

laconic1 09-25-2003 08:07 AM

That wood body kit reminds me of a car I saw a high schooler mod with a wood spoiler and crutches for wheelie bars. I wish I had a pic of it to post.

Scorps 09-25-2003 08:34 AM

I like the speaker covers but everything else blows hard

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

P.S. why put a blower on a honda when everyone knows its nto real.

thadon 09-25-2003 09:15 AM

wow the Miata is wild

ducati999 09-25-2003 09:57 AM

wtf......

rodgerd 09-25-2003 11:48 AM

Actually, I like the scissor doors, myself. Never been impressed with absurd stereos.

And, to be fair, the air intake on the bonnet isn't rice, per se. It's an American muscle car monstoristy by origin. It looks stupid on them, too.

Peryn 09-25-2003 11:58 AM

I like the "Aluminum blower." Followed by "blower = fully functional hood scoop". First off, there is a huge difference between a hood scoop and a blower. Second, how is that hood scopp functional? Look at the engine, the air blowing in from it doesn't atach to an air filter or any kind of air intake. It would just blow onto the top of the engine...

I think its kinda of ugly, ya gota give him credit on creativity and actually going through with it. Plus he had teh sense to switch motors, go to disk brakes in the back, full intake and exhaust system, suspension, radiator and fuel system. Take off the ufly body kits and he could have had a nice car with decent audio system.

As for that miata, i think it looks pretty badass. Unique and very clean. It pleases me

On American muscle cars, those actually serve a purpose. Just like wings on race cars. On a Japanese FWD econobox, they're just rice.

Redlemon 09-25-2003 12:19 PM

I love the nine exhaust pipes on that hatchback!

MSD 09-25-2003 12:42 PM

If the sccop did something, and the front bumper were a bit more um ... reasonable, That car would look nice. For a fraction of a second, I hoped that the scoop did something.

Verdict: ugly.

That Miata, on the other hand, kicks ass.

tfin 09-25-2003 08:41 PM

That blue car with flames is not half bad, it is just that the flames are over done. But that wooden car is awesome. You just know that guy did that to be a jackass. I love the idea of using crutches as a wheelie bar. I have always wanted to make a fake rice car.

boobwatcher1000 09-25-2003 09:52 PM

why would you do that???

ooooh....the new front end on that miata looks neat
i like the way they added those different headlights
i wonder what car those are from or whether they are completely custom

Type-R 09-28-2003 04:40 PM

Arcane. Those are Celica headlights.
Anyways, rice is thrown around these days...Before, when i first got into cars, i was a big ricer...Now im into German Subtle designs...Rieger A4...Can't go wrong...
Who gives a fuck if you don't like the way someone modded their car. ITS THEIR FUCKING CAR, SHIT FUCK. If you dont like it, dont look at it.
Some of those cars have had TONS of money, hours, and good bodywork dumped into them...I'd like to see what you homo's drive before you hate on eveyrone else's car.

Ugly is ugly. And most muscle cars I've seen 'em on are never used in anger - they're like aerodynamic kits on cars that never go fast enough to need them.

That MX-5 is kind of a neat idea, although I wouldn't drive one myself.

Elitegibson 09-29-2003 12:00 AM

That civic at the top would look good engulfed in flames and going over a cliff with the owner/designer. Unless this guy did it all himslef some professionals had to help with it. People who do custom work like that should have pride in their creations and not let them go into such a gaudy machine like that.

Elitegibson 09-29-2003 12:03 AM

I've got an idea. We should take up a collection and buy that car, just to get it off the street. Then we could raffle turns beating the fuck out of it with a sledgehammer.

K-Wise 09-29-2003 12:08 AM

Okay doing that for one is ridiculous....you get into a crash you're pretty much fucked and probably fuckin dead. How good could the fuckin manuverability on those fuckin cars be? I mean Jesus I'd like to see those idiots get over a speed bump without difficulty. For the life of me I cannot understand why they think putting the cars that freakin low looks cool at all. Whats even worse is when they top those cars off with a fuckin ridiculous spoiler that looks like the fuckin head of the Queen Alien.....even worse when the damn thing doesn't even go with the car at all. Waste a fuckin money is all that is.

Asta!!

merkerguitars 09-29-2003 05:12 AM

Most likely the guy making the first guy was doing it just to make a ugly/weird car just to turn heads....

G4ME 09-29-2003 05:44 PM

i have seen better

RemyLebeau97 09-29-2003 07:05 PM

The things some people will do to make a 4 banger LOOK fast, poor fella.

Jonny123 10-03-2003 03:48 PM

I'm all for "to each his own." But then again, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

the lack of taste some people have truely amazes me sometime....

majik_6 10-06-2003 10:56 AM

I must say, that when it comes to sheer shock value, that car rates a 10! When I opened the new window, I just stopped. It's not my tastes exactly, but that is pretty cool.

If the Blower was attached to a big ol' American engine, then it'd be even cooler.

The only thing I'm unsure of is that front bumper...a little too "agressive". But all in all, a nicely built machine.

WarWagon 10-06-2003 11:38 AM

I'm sorry, but even the colorblind would be disgusted by the color choices. Ronald McDonald called, he wants his interior back.

IC3 10-06-2003 04:32 PM

Take off the blower, The front bumper that sticks out so far and the back wing and I would drive that car.

billege 10-06-2003 05:23 PM

About the original picture:

It's really a moot point if the question is one of style. His car represents a huge amount of labor and creativity. From the interior pictures and close-ups of the car I'd also say the modifications were carried out with a high degree of technical skill, attention to detail, and good craftsmanship.

It takes skill to do things like that.

Anybody can be a critic.
