Jeeps!!!

OK, any of you people roll a Jeep Wrangler? I love mine and I was curious as to whether any of you have one....

theguyondacouch 09-07-2003 10:27 AM

I have. My buddy wanted to test the roll cage and couldn't flip it. I helped a but.

My best bud has one. Its pretty fun to ride in with the top down.

A friend of mine has one with air locks, lift kit basically all the crazy stuff for going MUDDING. its pretty insanse

I've rolled mine. Never turn up hill when traversing an incline :)

Result...a few dings and nicks, lots of gas and oil all over the place, and a very nervous passenger.

After having her winched back over, refilling those critical fluids....and letting it sit for a while...she fired right up and except for the mess of oil on the underside of the hood and the stench of gasoline all over the back end...she was none the worse for wear.

Good times...gooooooood times,

I rolled my old CJ-5 along a highway guard rail. Took me some workin' to rebuild it too. Good vehicle

I haven't rolled mine yet, but I have gone off-roading a lot and I have so much fun. Just wondered if anyone on here shared the interest...

Peryn 09-10-2003 09:08 AM

absolutely. unfortunately, unless your into rock crawling, there nothing too tough around here. Some fun stuff, just not too tough. Plus, since mine is my daily driver i cant afford to get it into a position to roll. Any time im going up a steep incline i make sure i have room to slide back and i NEVER turn. I never take an steep inclines sideways either. So rollings not an issue, but its still a great car. For 17yrs old its still more capabable than a lot of the stuff that goes out there. Im always surprised what 4wh can get me through. No mudding here (lucky if ya can find damp soil, let alone mud) so the big tires aren't a necessity either.

I've never rolled mine, but I do have a full cage, not just the factory bar. I'm VERY into Jeepin'. I'm in two different clubs that go on trailrides monthly.

I want one
+ fun, open air, looks good
- bad ride, easy to break into, low power

Peryn 09-12-2003 09:36 AM

low power? Have you ever driven one? 190hp/235lb.ft. of torque with 85% of that at IDLE! (on the rubicon. slightly less at idle on the others i think) Thats more than enough power to move you around town. This thing isn't a race car after all. It will give ya more than enough power anywhere anytime ya need it unless ya want to go fast on the freeway (in which case ya bought the wrong car).

And most of the time, its nowhere near as bad of a ride as you would think from looking at it. The on-road ride isn't a caddy, but its not uncomfortable. The off-road ride is real nice too.

A good friend of mine rolled his a few years ago on a camping trip. Rolled twice, landed back on it's wheels and we just kept going. alignment was a little out afterwards, but that was easily fixed.

I have a Jeep XJ. Haven't rolled it though. No plans to either. :)

Never rolled my CJ-7. You just can't drive it around corners like a sports car or sedan.
