Ultra Mini
So me and my Dad were talking about Mini's and the surprising power. So he mentions that you can fit an F1 engine into it, I'm surprised at this, but after thinking about it realizes it's possible. Really expensive, but possible. Now we already know that the drive train, the transmission, gear ratios, a whole bunch of stuff has to be retooled. Can you guys think of what needs to be done to create one hella fast Mini?

stickers... you need stickers
...actually I have no idea |
GIANT ALUMINIUM WING......

Putting an F1 engine in a FWD car would be....WRONG. You'd have to change that. :)
|
Where are you getting your 'f1' engine??? Got a spare you could send my way? IMHO, it would be better to put it into something RWD or AWD...
|
this is about the same level as the 400 mph top speed motorcycle.. freakin' insane.. cool though

If I had a multi million dollar paycheck, I'd be calling Bernie up in a heartbeat to buy an F1 engine. Yeah, we do know that we have to change the drive of the car. Altho, with the Mini being FWD, it'd be easier to put the engine in the front. This sounds like a job for Monster Garage. However, if you put the engine in the back, that might free up enough room in the front for the computer that an F1 engine needs. Yeah, downforce on the car would be a must, cuz if it don't have downforce, you're screwed so bad.

There is no question that you have to make this rear wheel drive...two words: Wheel Hop. Two more: Torque Steer. Neither of those would be fun AT ALL with a high HP motor in a light car.
And yes, downforce and aerodynamics will become your nemesis on a project like this. What exactly are you going to do with this Mini? Autocross? road course? Quartermile? Kill yourself? |
lol, no, we're not going to be doing anything at this point in time, seeing as how an F1 engine costs about 1.2 mil a pop. I was just thinking about how kool it would be to have something that is very deceptively fast.
