Fascia cracked

I just cracked the fascia(Plastic frontispiece) on my '02 Dodge Stratus R/T. Like a dumbass I ran over one of those CATDEMN
parking lot curbs. It was dark and....

anyway
Dodge says the part is $282.00.
they won't put it on or paint it. Does anyone know how much this type of work will cost me...factory paint/installationetc.

I've done a fine job with the almighty duct tape! but I don't want to report this to my insurance company obviously...I think my deductable is 500

Thanks in advance

If you want it fixed, you'll just have to bite the bullet. If Dodge needs $290 for the part, then that's that. You may be able to install it. Paint should be in the $150-200 range. What piece exactly are you talking about though...take a pic...'cuz now that I think about it, I'm not sure if you're talking about the bumper cover, or the lower spoiler.

It's the entire bumper assembly. it's all one piece.
don't have the tools nor the inclination to install it myself or I would.

If it is cracked, and not too badly, you could likely have a body shop fix it. Most bumper repairs come in at about 3-5 hours. I'd give a money range, but without knowing what area you live in, I wouldn't want to guess at the local body work rates. Figure, in either case of repair or replace, to have about 2 hours worth of refinish time. Again, no way to guess your local refinish rates or paint materials cost.

Bottom line - take your car by a local independent body shop and get an opinion. Locally, a 4 hour repair with refinish would be about $300 or so. Without seeing a pic of the damage, I can't say whether it is repairable or not, but body shops that are good at plastic repairs can do some amazing things.

As to replacing it yourself, dunno if it is worth it. Figure about 2 hours replace time and the same 2 hours for refinish. While it won't come out to much more than $500, it will be more. Again, the numbers I am guessimating are based on my locale. Yours may well be higher (likely higher as we enjoy some of the lowest average rates on the East Coast hereabouts).

Or if the body shop is trying to dick you over (got in a MINOR accident, smudged the other guys bumper, know it can be buffed out for a fact,) they'll charge $616 just to respray it and somehow find 15 hours worth of labor
