Motorcycles! Anything and Everything

Well I could not find a motorcycle thread so I figured I would make one. If anyone has any questions or comments on anything motorcycle related maybe they could put it here. I don't really know shit so hopefully more experienced motorcycle inclined members will be able to help. This also leads me to my first question...

I recently got a windshield for the bike to keep the damn bugs from smashing into my helmet and getting all over me. In that regard it does its job wonderfully. However, the wind seems to be directed straight into the top part of my helmet and my head feels like someone is lightly shaking it. It is a minor annoyance on shorter rides, but anything over 100km or so it really fatigues my neck.

Is this normal? Anyone else experienced this or know how to stop it? I tried changing the angle on the glass several times but it does not seem to diminish this effect at all.

im2smrt4u 01-09-2010 07:57 PM

What type of bike blah? That could be very normal on certain bikes. I ride a V-Star 1100 (a cruiser) and with the OEM windshield I get the head shake like you describe. Installing lower deflectors solves that issue on my bike.

Other bikes might require a taller than OEM windshield. Cee Bailey's makes nice windshields for lots of models: Welcome to Cee Bailey's Aircraft Plastics Inc.

blahblah454 01-09-2010 08:03 PM

I have an 08 Honda Shadow 750 Aero. I bought an aftermarket Memphis Shade. It cost about 1/4 of what the Honda one would have, and it is removable.

im2smrt4u 01-09-2010 08:20 PM

They should have lower deflectors to fit that shield. I'd give them a try.

Cheater 01-13-2010 06:14 PM

Sounds like you got the wrong size windshield, might be too short. A lot has to do with how tall you are. There are deflectors that go near the top of the shield to direct the wind over your head too. I ride a VTX-1800t and the stock windshield is perfect (I am 6'). I took my son's 1100 Shadow out the other day to blow it out, and when the wind caught my helmet, I thought it was going to rip it off my head. Good luck with the deflectors. I don't know how I ever rode without a shield.

the general rule of thumb for bike windscreens is that the angle of the screen should match the angle of the fork (as in be parallel with). here's a pic of my bike which shows this pretty well. of course, the height of the screen as well as your own play key roles in determining whether the air will pass over your head or hit you in the face, as does the width to some degree.

a picture of the bike with you on it in your normal riding position would give us a better idea of what needs to be done.

finally, keep in mind that this IS a motorcycle we're talking about, so you are always going to have at least SOME degree buffeting at highway speeds...you just have to find the level that you are comfortable with. note also that for longer rides (say 75 miles plus) you are going to want to shift position now and again to keep muscles from cramping. this too can help alleviate your fatigue. and have you considered exercising your neck muscles to better withstand such forces?

Plan9 01-15-2010 09:25 AM

Yeah, I just take the bugs to the face and jacket. It's annoying and really hurts sometimes but I don't mind getting a little messy. I also prefer my bike to be as bare bones as possible aside from some necessary "ooh, shiny." I definitely don't want anything that'll increase vibration on the bike.

...

One of my favorite add-ons for my bike is the highway / freeway bar. In the pic, you can see it go from the top of the front cylinder to the control pegs. It's basically a tubular piece of chromed steel that guards the engine and your legs by sticking out beyond the width of them. The highway bar adds protection to my legs when my feet are on the control pegs such as when I'm toolin' around heavy traffic. I've also put folding cruising pegs on it so I can put my feet up when I get out into no-stops-for-miles land. I wouldn't ride without one. Any bike that I get in the future will have to be able to mount one. I like the sense of security it provides, the comfort of using cruising pegs, and it looks mean as hell and really beefs up the front end of your bike.

I've got an '08 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 and I love the look of it bare but I do a lot of riding and really need the wind protection I get from the windscreen, the bars are so wide that I am just a big sail on top of my machine.

If the screen were any bigger it would cut right through my vision. I am 6' and I figure I have an average sized torso.

I have plenty of neck muscles, the way it goes I actually prefer riding it with no windshield on.

Here is a picture of it before I put on the screen.

Hey crompsy, I want to get some highway bars/pegs. What kind do you have and did you get them online or in a store? The ones I was looking at come from meancycles online and I think they were called Paladins. I seem to remember seeing that the freaking pegs cost almost as much as the bars.

Sion 02-03-2010 07:58 PM

blah, I've got no specific recommendation for engine guards (aka crash-bars) or highway pegs other than to definitely get them...you'll appreciate being able to stretch your legs out on longer rides. plus, when you do that, it puts you in more of a laid back position which will help with buffeting, as your head will be further back and slightly lower.

also, in standard riding position, you should be able to see over the windscreen without having to crane your neck or stand up on the pegs. this is a safety concern in case something gets on the screen (rain, snow, leaves, whatever) blocking your vision.

Plan9 02-03-2010 08:24 PM

Blah,

CruiserCustomizing.com is my personal favorite site to buy motorcycle accessories. Go to the site, put in the make and model of your bike (it's near at the top of the list, above my bike) and it'll list a wide variety of accessories that are guaranteed to fit. I've used it to purchase a wide range of items and haven't had a single issue with quality or fitment... which is something I can't really say about any other hobby.

For your bike, an '08 Shadow 750 Aero, I believe Cobra and MC Enterprises both make full size bars for around $180.

Check it out, lemme know if you have any questions. And like I said, having highway bars / engine guard makes the motorcycle feel a whole lot safer and gives you a place to hang your feet on long trips.

Great site plan9, I am going to order up some stuff from there pretty quick!

What kind of pegs did you put on your highway bars?

I want to get a sissy bar to strap my backpacking pack to, and a luggage rack for stuff too. I plan on going on a 3,000km trip this summer to Vancouver Island so need a little luggage space.

All I have to do now is wait for the snow to melt!

Plan9 02-04-2010 10:42 AM

I use Kuryakyn dually ISO pegs, but Kuryakyn makes a zillion different types of pegs from functional to fancy as well as a wide variety of mounts. I'd recommend getting an adjustable mount so you can adjust the pegs forward or back to find your personal comfort level on the bike. The one thing that becomes an issue with cruising pegs is that it puts more of the weight on your ass and often at a different angle. I had to upgrade the saddle on my Sabre because the stock one was brutal on my non-padded tailbone after about a 90 minutes of highway speed. I bought a Mustang cruising saddle and it's been smooth sailing since despite the less cool perch.

Sadly, the motorcycle accessory market is incredibly expensive. The highway bar might cost you $170, and the pegs / mounts will cost you just as much.

blahblah454 02-04-2010 01:51 PM

Check this out, this is what I am going to do with my seat
http://www.shadowaero750.com/files/seat2.pdf

I hear you can also fill the hole with memory foam for a good time too. If it fails all I need to do is get a new seat, which is what I was planning on doing originally anyways.

Sion 02-04-2010 07:36 PM

blah (et al)

should you end up getting a new seat, you might consider Russell Cycle Products ( Custom Motorcycle Seats and Touring Saddles - "Day-Long" Touring Saddles and Motorcycle Seats by Russell Cycle Products ) unless the price of $500+ is a problem. I can't speak from personal experience yet (planning on getting one this spring) but a LOT of the riders from the IBA (Iron Butt Association www.ironbutt.com ) and the LDRiders email list ( Home ) recommend them highly. These are people who do a thousand miles in a day...some have done as much as 50 or 100 thousand in a year. If they say the seats are as good as you can get, I believe em.

Soon as my tax refund comes in, I'm planning on getting a Russell seat, and gonna do a SaddleSore 1000 once the weather gets nice enough.

blahblah454 02-04-2010 08:32 PM

Sion that looks pretty cool, definitely something to check out if my custom seat mod does not work.

I have until the end of July to figure out the seat thing, as that is when I will be taking the big trip. Before then the most I will go in a day is 450km, still a fair bit but I have done it on the shitty saddle already.

geeza 03-06-2010 05:12 AM

gents, I think the problem here is with the idea of trying to go fast for long periods on a cruiser. It's just not set up for that. The only thing worse than trying to ride a Fatboy over 55mph is trying to ride a Fatboy over 55mph in an open race helmet. I had to get from SF to LA in a hurry once, went down the 5 freeway at 80 all the way and by the time I got to LA my arms were a foot longer and my face looked like the Picture of Dorian Gray.

NB I am NOT capping on Cruisers; they are rad for *cruising*. The great thing about motorcycles is that they aren't as expensive as cars and you can stuff a bunch of em in a garage. So I suggest trying a tourer if you want to do distance, or if you have a few extra bucks go test ride a BMW. You don't have to buy new but you might like it. I was converted for life when I bought a 1200GS, and I ride all over the US at 80+ mph.

Plan9 03-06-2010 10:16 AM

That's a beautiful ride, Stan. Those pipes are brutal goodness. 110 HP gives me a warm and fuzzy.

the big bmw GS bikes are a god send to motorcyclists... very very good at highway touring, plus they don't mind getting muddy as hell or even an occasional stream crossing

samcol 03-07-2010 09:39 PM

personally i can't stand windshields. i like an unobstructed view of the road, plus a windshield acts like a kite throwing you and the bike around more than the wind it's supposed to block.

no windshield also looks much better imo. stock fixed fairings are ok though because they sit low enough they don't bother me.

Is that a 650? I've been thinking about getting a Ninja 650 as an inexpensive zoom-zoom toy.

Orchrist 03-08-2010 09:30 AM

2008 Ninja 250 actually, even less expensive. First year of the newer re-model and it's quite nice, light as a feather when cornering and carries me fine on the highways.

Plan9 03-08-2010 10:12 AM

Well, I want something with bigger balls than that... I think a mid-sized engine is what I'm looking for. I don't need a 1100... ya know, the airplane without wings.

The '08 Honda Interceptor is very appealing. I don't know what is up with me lately, but I definitely think a bigger or faster bike is in my future.

Anybody have recommendations on a mid-size engine'd crotch rocket for a cruiser guy?

Sion 03-09-2010 04:11 AM

I'm a huge fan of the vtwins. You could try a Buell Firebolt 1200 cc. they have a great torque band and are better for road riding than inline 4's imo.

I understand...as the article stated:

"Competence. Like common sense, it’s all too uncommon. Motorcycles today, while generally reliable and well-engineered, tend to be specialized, designed to fit particular images or play specific roles. All-round bikes—like the go-anywhere, do-anything UJMs of years past—rarely win popularity contests or break sales records. Wide-ranging competence isn’t sexy or glamorous. Competence gets overlooked, collects dust, fades away."

Plan9 03-26-2010 09:07 PM

Of course. People settle for such in their cars and figure they should have something more eccentric in a bike.

I don't like it... its rare that I see a bike and don't get that tingly feeling. Its like a cheaper looking vstrom but with more price and less cool. It honestly looks like a lot like their silver wing scooter... especially with those built in cases... It doesn't seem like it would fit smoothly into any motorcycle grouping... it's far from a cruiser, it isn't sporty and it isn't an off-roader.. and it falls short of being a tourer. I think the bike would be more popular if it were a bit more like its bigger brother, more sporty looking.. or on the other side of things, a bit more rugged like the vstrom.

speaking of honda, did anyone see the DN-01 yet? I saw one at the dealer.. it was weird as hell. It looks like it will get some attention thanks to its automatic transmission and small floorboards to keep your feet soo extra comfy... it looks like it should hold a huge engine but it doesn't. it kinda takes the bike out of the bike.

Plan9 03-29-2010 08:50 PM

Yeah, no ugly-but-useful for me. I either want a supplement my current cruiser with a mid-engine sportbike like the Honda Interceptor 800 (or the Yamaha/Kawasaki equiv) or I think I might trade in my current Honda Sabre ('02) and get a VTX-1800C. The 2011 (?) Sabre (based on the Fury) has a bigger engine (1300cc vs. 1100cc) and looks pretty nice with its chopper styling aside from the usual junky trim pieces and the horribly ugly Fury exhaust. I've also been coveting the Yamaha/Star "Midnight Warrior" drag bike with its aluminum frame and roarin' powerplant. That thing is a sexy beast.

I want them all but can only swing getting one:

'Nother question: What kind of footwear do you suckas ride with?

I swear by my giant clunky Chippewa engineer boots. They cover most of my calf, no laces, and feel like they're an inch thick of bulletproof cowhide. The square box toe makes shifting a sure thing and the generous cowboy heel sits nice on the control pegs or the highway pegs. I see guys riding in tennis shoes and always wonder if they think about how easy it is to lose a few toes in a wreck. I like the idea of not snapping my ankle like a pencil.

I wear a pair of black, synthetic leather Durangos in a style that's a cross between western (aka cowboy) and engineer. not optimal protection, to be sure, but WAY better than sneakers or flip-flops or sandals. and they're comfy as hell.

this isn't exactly what I wear, but pretty close.

honestly, we should all be wearing a true riding boot such as this:

but I've yet to see a pair that look good as well as being functional.

Orchrist 03-30-2010 05:44 AM

I have two pairs of boots a well armored simple styled racing boot and I just picked up a pair of waterproof and better insulated boots for the colder weather rides.

Most people will laugh and say I'm overdoing it but I've always been of the opinion that there's enough inherent risk already in motorcycling why take chances that a minor get-off turns into a majorly painful skin grafting experience. For boots in particular, pictures of a hot girl missing the top half of her foot were incentive enough to shell out some cash.

Yeah, bingo.

Those superbike / touring boots you posted are probably the best protection you can get... but they all look horrible. I'd feel like a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger even in the black ones. I think that engineer boots are sufficient for cruisers where the need for articulation of the feet is minimal.

I would love to have either pair of those boots but can't justify the 200-300 dollar price tag. you could get away with wearing those boots on the bottom with any kind of bike, sportbike, touring, or cruiser in my opinion.

I have a very nice GPS "navigation unit" but no safe place to mount it on the bike (tank? bars?) and even if I did... I wouldn't be able to hear it tell me to turn, look at the arrows and pilot the bike at the same time. I think I'll stick to pitstops with a paper map for now.

nomcat 04-01-2010 07:52 AM

I used a standard car TomTom ONE XL on my bike on a recent trip down to the south of France and Spain. It's got a car mount, but the slim mount design allowed me to stick it to my tacho. It held fast and didn't shift for 3000 or so miles! The tacho is tucked nicely under the windscreen, so I even had it out in the rain with no problems.

I worried I'd have room to mount my zumo, but the included Ram motorcycle mount made it easy...as for hearing it, it's got pretty good sound, but even if it didnt, I've got it routed through my speakers, so thats a non-issue. optionally, you can plug in headphones, or if you've got bluetooth in-helmet speakers, it can pair up with most bluetooth devices...including cellphones.

I dont think I'll be bothering with the cellphone function though...one of the reasons I ride is to get away from the tedium of everyday life...dont think I want it intruding on my fun.

garmin handheld gps devices also make decent navigation units.. the etrex and colorado for starts and the garmin oregon is pretty nifty with a large touch screen... rugged devices, plus they work great for hiking and other outdoor stuff like geocaching.

GPS? Getting lost is half the fun on a bike. There's also zero chance I'm going to hear anything over my pipes.

I generally wear retired hiking boots on the bike. They may not have full armor; but they aren't bad and are fully paid for and depreciated.

I like the pants and will have to look into them. I wear a helmet, gloves, jacket, and boots; but get "Village People" flashbacks every time I consider chaps.

Oh shit, son. I've got a beauty blemish on my sweet ride.

My DG Kicker exhaust, that sexy piece of chrome... it somehow got a big swatch of gentle pitting on the necks where they go into the cylinders. What the fuck, over? Anyway, here's my question: Do you guys think I could pull them off, rough 'em up with steel wool, and use some of that 1500 degree engine block paint to do 'em in silver or black? I can't stand fucked-up chrome. Do you think the paint would stick?

not for long...consider what you put those header pipes through...hot, cold, hot, cold, etc. over and over and over again...if you want something on them that's going to last, you are going to have to go with powder-coating. or you could get that wrap stuff.

Mmm, cross overlapped header wrap would be very post-apoc. I could get into that.

I guess I'll have to see where I can get the thing powder-coated locally. I want matte gray.

sure, getting lost can be fun, but when you are trying to get somewhere on time, or are running out of gas....

as for your pipes, if your exhaust is so loud it would overpower a set of ear-buds or in-helmet speakers, then I'd say the only thing it accomplishes is making us all look bad in the eyes of the cagers.

I never could understand the attraction of super loud exhaust...sure, it's kinda cool...for about 5 minutes, then its just annoying. "Loud pipes save lives" is utter hogwash...loud pipes cause bad laws to be written.

the guy who did my fender (and the rest of the chrome, as time and $$ permit) assures me that he can do many different colors. I'm sure matte gray would be possible. He's very reasonable (my front fender was $30 for matte black). If you're anywhere near central Ohio, I could hook you up with him.

Plan9 04-07-2010 07:37 PM

Sadly, I'm a million miles away from Ohio. But if it was only $30 for a fender, I'd imagine $100 will get my Kickers covered in matte gray. They're just 2.5" pipes. I think I'd do some header wrap near the top before I crush 'em back on the bike. That'll be so sick, bro... flat gray with cross overlapped wrap. Heh! I'm friggin' excited now. Maybe I should have the guy do my wheels as well. They're all nasty looking but not in a cool way.

Different strokes, I guess. The concept of wearing ear buds while riding is just wrong to me.

My exhaust is intentionally tuned to be barely legal. I use 18" glass packs; because 16's were 5db too loud. My bike sounds more like a 60's muscle car than a Harley with drag pipes.

It's odd to talk aesthetics and motorcycles; but the sound of my engine during a full throttle acceleration is part of my enjoyment while riding. I'd also propose that crotch rockets weaving in and out of traffic give bikers a worse reputation than loud pipes.

Plan9 04-16-2010 04:03 PM

Update:

My exhaust and VTX cylinder shields are being powdercoated with a matte black ceramic. It's gonna be sweet. I should have 'em hung by next week.

The problem with being barely legal is that the laws vary from state to state and town to town...you'll probably find that out the hard way one of these days. Meanwhile, I fully agree with your second paragraph.

Ehhh, maybe; though there's a gazillion Harleys that are louder than me.

I'd also be interested in seeing that. I wavered for a month between flat black powder and chrome. I opted for chrome; but black is probably easier upkeep.

I don't know wtf they put on the roads in Colorado; but my OEM aluminum rims turned to crap very quickly here. It's only been a year or so; but the chrome seem to be holding up fine.

For boots I just wear my steel toe work boots. Suppose I could get something a little more bike oriented for them, but they are sturdy and come up like 6 inches I think.

Here is the bike, just got it out of the garage and installed highway bars, highway pegs and a throttle controller on it. Also modified the seat by cutting out an ass-groove into it. So far it feels pretty darn comfortable sitting on it and putsing around in the yard. I need to insure it and try it out on a fair sized trip though.

Plan9 04-19-2010 12:40 PM

Rockin' additions, BlahBlah. I think we have the exact same highway bar and pegs.

What throttle controller did you go with? Plastic paddle? Or did you go deep and get something pricey like the BrakeAway?

I think I posted it before, but check out CruiserFX - Honda for other toys you might want. I own a lot of their products and really like 'em.

blahblah454 04-19-2010 03:07 PM

I got the "Vista Cruise Universal Cruise Control - Metric Cruisers" from cruisercustomizing. So far it seems to be alright. I wont get a real chance to try and of this stuff out until sometime in May when I insure the bike again.

I can't wait! I just need some people to ride with, its a damn ghost town out here.

Thanks for that link, I am going to check some of that stuff out!

I like those Headlight modifications... do you use anything like that?

Well that is no fun, that Ice Crystal headlight does not fit the VT750 Aero, which is what I have.

Plan9 04-19-2010 04:00 PM

You take off your insurance during the winter? My insurance is only ~$150 for 12 months. I just keep it insured all year to avoid the license plate hassle.

...

Damn, Aero750 is the only one it doesn't fit in. Too bad. I bought the crystal headlight for the Sabre and really like it. I recommend upgrading the bulb in your stock headlight, though. You can never have too much light out front, even at noon on a sunny day. Keep the cagers awake, ya know?

...

Heh, yeah... I have no excuse not to have riding buddies but here I am. I guess I need to find a forum for local cruiser guys and do a meet 'n greet.

blahblah454 04-19-2010 04:03 PM

It costs me about $120 a month for insurance on the bike out here. Insane!!! So not a chance on keeping it insured. I switch it over to "storage insurance" or some such during the off months, that costs me like $60 a year.

Plan9 04-19-2010 04:30 PM

$120 a month? Yikes. That's more than I pay for my little POS rollerskate automobile. Vehicle insurance is expensive in Canada.

...

I think the next time I have to replace the tires on my bike that I'll do a fender chop and Line-X my fenders / tank.

Sion 04-21-2010 03:42 AM

would you wear this helmet?

awesome!

Update: Took forever, but ceramic coating is finished on the parts, exhaust is done and installed. Will get pictures tomorrow. It's friggin' beautiful.

Sorry, I'm balls deep in finals right now. I'll get a real picture when I get the VTX cylinder shields unfucked.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the ceramic coating. It's hard as hell and tight on all the edges. Pricey, though.

Check it out... DG Kickers exhaust in flat black ceramic coating:

My next project is to mount the EZ Brackets onto the soft bags I have. Notice the fat studs beneath the passenger pad.

I think it's funny that I've put all this effort into customizing this gnarly bike only to realize that I want something bigger.

Sion 05-11-2010 04:15 PM

too bad my camera doesn't capture how beautiful it is up on the skyway...maybe if it wasnt a 20 year old digital...?

anyway...here's more

Deals Gap at the Tail of the Dragon (US 129 at the NC/Tenn border) an 11 mile stretch of road with a claimed 318 curves (I'd estimate its more like 200-250)

the Tree of Shame (tradition dictates that if you get "bitten" by the Dragon, you leave a piece of your bike/car/whatever on the tree) there's probably 200+ mirrors hanging off that sumbitch. I, however, did not get bit, so I had nothing to leave on the tree

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_DHlzVeEKYKY/S-...0/P0000012.jpg

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_DHlzVeEKYKY/S-...0/P0000014.jpg

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_DHlzVeEKYKY/S-...0/P0000009.jpg

and finally, Mike, the owner of this ST 1100, took an unscheduled swim in one of the local rivers...the bike was in 6 feet of water for nearly 2 hours....

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_DHlzVeEKYKY/S-...20%2828%29.jpg

after getting it back to the campground, Mike spent 8 hours getting the water out and the electrics sorted...then another 6 or so the next morning getting it running...then rode it home to Connecticut!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_DHlzVeEKYKY/S-...20%2830%29.jpg

despite considerable cosmetic body damage, including no right side mirror, no windshield, a speedometer held on by zipties, and the need to reattach the hard saddlebags with bungies, he didnt get stopped by a single LEO (law enforcement officer)!

---------- Post added at 08:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:03 PM ----------

All in all, it was an absolutely fantastic trip. The weather cooperated perfectly (only caught the tail end of the deluge that swamped West Tennessee and Kentucky on sunday evening...after dark and the bikes were already under cover). Everyone we met was super friendly and we had an absolute blast! I can NOT wait to go back.

If you ride a motorcycle and are looking for a nice place to take a trip...you can't do much better than SE Tennessee and/or NW North Carolina...the roads are great and the scenery is georgeous. It may truly be the Mecca of Motorcycling in America.

Ride On...

Sion I really enjoyed that post! I can't wait to go on some bike trips.

I am trying to hit my dad up for one, I told him that I would take him out last Fathers day for a camping trip all on me but his bike was in the shop last summer. He got a new one this year, well kind of new. A 84 Honda Magna V65 I believe is the title. I had the pleasure of riding it a few weekends back, just a short rip, but man that thing was quick!

I just got my bike insured today. Went for a little 35km ride today just to try out the new highway pegs and try to adjust the shield correctly. If the weather is okay tomorrow I plan on taking it out on a longer one. Forecast is calling for thunder showers though so that might be put on hold.

Plan9 06-23-2010 01:20 PM

Did a great ride from my place down 50 past the state tree park to Harley dealer off 81, flipped onto 7 and rolled over the mountain to my folks place in the 'burbs. About 90 miles with plenty of hills and valleys and the traffic isn't too bad if you're doing the reverse commute. Time to cool off with a brewski.

Consider this a long distance finger.

We had a wet, cold spring in the mountains. While I have 1500 miles in this year, it's mostly riding to work and short trips. The weather and roads are only now getting appropriate for longer rides.

I still haven't managed to get the Valkyrie "biker bar/photograph" clean this year. I inevitably end up riding through something before I finish.

I wanted to post pics of my '08 V-Star 650 Midnight Custom, but I can't because I don't have enough posts. :'( It's metallic black, with a gray ghosted flame on the top of tank and tail -Sufficient Power up to about 70mph, and gets over 50mpg. Noice! I also love the look of the Yamaha's fatter and wider body/gas tank compared to Honda and even the Sportster. V&H Short Shots just added.

I'll post a pic when I get to the required 15 posts. sorry guys and gals
