Need replacment headlights

Hello. I have a 2000 Ford Mustang. I have a dead headlight. The cops around here don't like that very much and one of these times I'm going to get a ticket instead of a warning.

My friend have me his HID kit but I don't know anything about that. I bought some new bulbs online several years ago but I don't remember what kind they were or anything about them. I do know that they were much brighter and whiter than my stock bulbs so I was pretty happy with them.

Here's my question: I need help finding new bulbs. I'd get an HID kit, but aren't there certain laws that apply to them from state to stats? I live in Memphis, TN. Anyone know any info on whatever laws there are if any? I'll go with normal halogen lights too I guess. I just don't want to get a ticket. I'll use my next paycheck toward it so price shouldn't mean too much. I just want something that will work and is bright.

Thanx for the help.

I believe that HID kits require different wiring.

A replacement bulb is the easiest, cheapest, and most common sense approach.

It's kind of like replacing the toilet paper roll on the holder when you're out.

Osram Sylvania manufactures good quality replacement bulbs.

Here is the complete list of bulbs for your 2000 Ford Mustang:

As provided from their site, Sylvania.com:

"Print out the list and find them at your nearest retailer.

Your vehicles owner manual may or may not be helpful for this. I know mine has a cool cartoon for it.

You probably should have done a Google search for something obvious instead of posting this on TFP, though.

TFP is better suited to your needs if your car headlight is out... and you use it to heat up your KY jelly.

I got an HID kit for my car...not "OEM" quality or complexity, but pretty nice. They still cost a few hundred bucks. As Crompsin suggested, you have to install ballasts along with the bulbs and wiring, hook it all up to proper power source, etc....so not just plug and play. Just get some good bulbs. The PIAA superwhite bulbs I got from Tirerack.com are very nice....just tell them what car you have and you're all set.

I had those Silverstar Ultra bulbs in my car, but I found that they did not last as long before conking out, and seemed to dim a bit more then regular halogen bulbs. I still thought that they were pretty cool and made a nice difference. Probably a 10 minute install for both in my Subaru.
