Phill Hill has died....
Shortly after 10 a.m. PST, America's first World Champion, Phil Hill, passed away in a Monterey County, Calif., hospital as a result of respiratory problems complicated by Parkinson's disease. Hill was 81.

Oh my...that shocks me.
While he did have a reasonably long life and one filled with extremely great accomplishments and enviable automotive fun, I can hardly believe that one of the greatest Amercican racecar drivers of all time has finally passed on. I will be reading that AutoWeek article and many others about him, and renewing my great admiration for that guy. |
That's shitty. I met him once and he was a thoroughly decent man and very humble about his success.
