That one actually has Tom's side skirts, rear bumper, and hood scoops, it does have a Bomex front lip, though. It also appears to be a Bomex rear spoiler, but it could be the stock 94+ one.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but I suppose I just fell in love with the 2000-2003 MR2 when I first saw it. Today, I have finally purcashed my 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder, and I get a grin on my face every time I sit in the car. Today has been a wonderful day. :)

No. The apex seal's do go bad but you have to do this thing called maintenance. People seem to think you can rag the piss out of a car then put it away wet and never have any problems.

z32 TT's from the many owners I know seems to be money pits. Fast, good looking cars, but money pits. Nothing on them is cheap and there is two of everything. My friend gets cost on factory parts and she has about $20k into hers including cost of car, going to put down about 450whp someday when we get around to putting the engine back together.

Mini S is a good car as well at the WRX, just think about where gas prices are going, yes they are still going to go up and up and up; also check for prices on insurance I know thats what killed me on my 95 Talon TSi when I was 19.

OMG how would I forget to mention a DSM, 95-99 turbo awd dsm would easily fit into your pricing and still have $8k left over for mods :)

I have no idea what a new Miata costs these days, but I have an absolutely perfect, red 1999. The price was reasonable at the time, and it is absolutely the best car I have ever driven, and I have had some nice ones over the years. It's sporty, economical and a blast to drive. A little sluggish ut to about 3,000 rpm, then hang on; corners like it's on rails all the time delivering a little over 30 mpg.

Anitra and I took it on a two week trip last summer, and while the trunk isn't large, we managed to get all our clothes, plus a small cooler in with no problem at all.

I paid 20K for mine with 40,000 miles. I've seen them cheaper with higher mileage. Not as quick as some of the other cars in this thread but the retractable hardtop is sweet.

I go with the civic, dude, I have one and I can't wait to spend the $$$ on performence parts. They're pricey but worth it!

The one that hasn't been suggested here is a Chevy Cobalt SS supercharged. At just shy of $22 000 MSRP new, it's a bit higher than you said you wanted to spend, but with all the dealer rebates going around right now you might be able to get one a bit cheaper. They look decent stock, you'll be able to improve on it easily enough and with 205 stock horses it oughta be quick enough. It also comes stock with 18" aluminum wheels and Z rated tires, so that's one less thing to worry about if you plan on making trips to the drag strip. The only possible downside is it only comes with a standard transmission, so if you'd rather let your left foot go to sleep you're out of luck.

The Saturn Ion Redline has been mentioned, they're pretty sporty looking and nice enough cars, but that gauge pod in the center of the dash would just drive me nuts personally. The Ion seems to be selling well enough, so I guess not too many people have a problem with it.

And finally, you could get a beater for a year and save up some cash for a Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky (same car, different nameplate). They're nice little sporty roadsters and while not as powerful as some of the other cars mentioned, 170hp is almost what I make and my car weighs a good 500 lbs more than these things. It'll get along. That and with an Ecotec under the hood getting more power out of it really isn't all that hard.

I really think the 05 tiburon is an attractive car, and fairly reliable.

opt for the v-6 6 spd and you'll have a fun little car.

I think that as a college student, you'll want something that is reliable and under warranty, unless you dont ever plan on having money issues, or are great at repairing cars.

I'm biased, but 6 months ago I picked up a '02 Nissan Maxima SE with a 6 speed manual transmission. The 2002 model has 265 hp (or is it 255?), does 0-60 in 6.3 secs (according to consumer reports). And I got mine for $14,000 in perfect condition and with 42,000 miles. It's fully loaded, black leather, in dash 6 disc cd changer, sunroof, power everything, bose sound system, premium wheels. Furthermore, I think the 2002 model looks way better than the new body style.

Something to consider since you're in college, this sedan is a nice mix between luxury and sporty. The rear seats are comfortable and have lots more leg room than alot of other cars, so if you ever drive friends around they'll be crooning to go in your car.

The AC cools down quickly, the sound system is nice, it goes fast, it drives nice, it's comfortable, it gets 30MPG highway (but takes premium gas), I LOVE the interior. I also like the exterior ALOT, unfortunately when you drive past someone it doesn't get the same head turning factor as bmw, or a mercedes. But to its credit, it's beautiful on the inside, your date would be impressed with the interior. It gets good safety ratings, and repairs/maintenance aren't a problem with nissans in my limited experience.

Go to a dealer's lot and test drive a 2002 nissan maxima SE (preferably a manual). This car grows on you fast. Luxury+sport for the win.

I don't know much about after market mods, but I'm told that if you're interested there is alot you can do to a maxima.

Uhm, I think you're a bit off topic (forgive me mods), but that looks like a Fiat Uno without the Fiat badge on the hood/grill.

i havne't had a chance to go through and read these, but i'd honestly recommend a 1991-1995 mr2 turbo, more storage space than the 2000 model, more power, extremely reliable and extremely upgradeable.

congrats on the Spyder, cool little cars......as for the Tiburon, I have a 2004, and the build quality is amazing for the price. plus, if you do the Tuscani badges, most people won't know what it is. most people think it's italian.

Another vote for the SRT4- so far nothing posted on here can touch it's bang for the buck. Mine's running 250HP and will blow the doors off pretty much everything.
