Hit and Run.........BUSTED

So me and my wife go into Office Max, look around for 10 minutes, and come back out to a group of people staring at this:

The guy tried to cut in between my car and another car in the parking lot, and it knocked my car 20 ft. back he hit it so hard (it was in gear!)

He hit it at an angle, so the damage isn't too bad, but that's the problem - it's enough to where it'll show up on Car Fax now, but not enough to total it......

The guy kept going after he hit my car, jumped the median, and landed in the Lowes Hardware parking lot - then his car stalled; he tried to crank it back up and leave again, but there was a marshall off duty walking out of the store and he prevented him from leaving

The guy is being charged with DUI and Hit & Run -

Sucks; my car was probably the last stock SRT-4 out there......hadn't been abused by a high schooler or anything!!!

Now it's got all that shit done to it........

People suck. At least they caught the asshole. Good luck.

You may be able to convince them to "total" the car.

A woman was parking facing my car in a lot, hit the gas pedal in lieu of the brake. The impact sent my car about 30 yards down the parking lot. The initial inspection only paid for my front bumper damage. But when I took it to the shop and told them what happened, they called the insurance company and advised them of power train (? is that the right term?) damage. This was about 10 - 15 years ago, but I imagine replacing the power train would still be too pricey to warrant the repair.

I ended up with a brand new car.

It's worth a shot, though, don't you think?

I know exactly how you feel, hope it gets sorted soon ,hey at least the prick didn't get away.

Ouch - my heart goes out to you, man. All the way from Denmark. I trust he'll be drawn, quartered, hanged, and worst of all, sued for damages?

Good luck on getting repairs done.

Jewels gives some excellent advice there. Have the body shop give it an incredibly thorough going-over, and speak to them about your concerns. If your car was thrown THAT far, it's going to have problems for a while, no matter how well your insurance claims they "fixed" it.

Black, stock SRT-4... that's a god damn shame. Those are fantastic little cars.

This one seems stock and in okay shape.

Wow. I would have cried.

blahblah454 12-03-2007 07:00 PM

That is insane! I swear, they let anyone get there license. Why do they even bother testing people? We all know anyone can get it anyways.

Hope everything works out all right for you.
