Pontiac G8
 

Coming first quarter 08 is the new Pontiac G8. For the specs and the pictures that have been released, this car looks like it could be very cool. I love the body and interior design of the car, and 6.0L engine looks lovely. Have you seen this car or heard anything about it?

Think of it as a four-door GTO. I saw it last year at the NY auto show, looks pretty nice. That 6.0L LS2 engine is nothing to sneeze at.

The car will not debut with the LS2 -

There are strong rumors a GXP version of the G8 will have the LS2, but they are indeed just rumors at this point

The G8 will have two packages at launch:

Base
3.6 L LY7 V6 - 261 HP

GT
6.0 L L76 V8 - 362 HP



Either way, this seems like an awesome car. I'd love to see the GXP rumor prove to be true!

I've been a fan of the G6 ever since I rode in a rental. It was a very nice car.

Isn't the G8 to be RWD?

I would drive one! If they're everything thats being claimed, they should be really nice, quick cars.

The LS2 is being phased out for use in production cars. Most likely be the LS3. Looking to insane whatever ends up in it.

The car is actually coming in with a L96 engine. This is the same as the L76 engine except with the DOD (deplacement on demand)(automatic valve shutoff).

The word on the street is that the GXP addition will debut next motel year, ie 09 with the Camaro. As the rumor of the GXP is still going around, as is the rumor of the engine. The LS3 is being considered, but the LS7 has also been kicked around. I do doubt the later though! Anyways, I am really looking forward to driving the G8 as soon as a dealer can get one. According to my local dealer, they have yet to receive any solid info on the car, including literature. So for now, a waiting game is to be played...

From what I have been told we should have them on the lot in the first to early second quarter of 2008.

I'll be in the market for a new car summer 08. I didn't know about the G8 until reading about it here. I'd get a Vette but I need 4 doors - this car looks like the next best thing. 365hp for $30k is hott!

that is nice! though I bet it will look as nice as this when it comes out. We will see alot of the base models.

and for some reason they make these cars in the shows meaner and lower than what they really look like.. .. or is that just me?
