about to buy 1999 isuzu amigo ...
V6, 4wd, automatic, soft top, excellent shape.
$8500. Any thoughts or links to share? Thanks! :) |
i would spend my $8500 elsewhere, the Amigo is cheap. there are plenty of I4 engines that probably put out equal or better horsepower than then one in there, and the 4WD probably isn't that great, not very much offroad capabilities, probably more of a problem than a solution.

205 horses seems ok, and all the reviews I've read (65 consumer reviews so far) http://www.carreview.com/PRD_95_1524crx.aspx never put down the off road capabilities... what car would your recommend? what have you heard bad about the 4wd?
thanks for posting. |
for that money, i would pick up a decent '97 or '98 Jeep Cherokee who's offroad ability is far better than the Isuzu. Jeep is just a better name at SUVs. it's not that the Amigo is BAD, it's just... "O.K." the straight 6 in the Jeep doesn't put out quite as much hp, but it's an almost indestructable engine that has been tested countless times over the years. everything about the car has been honed into a fine art through the years by Jeep: the engine, the trans, the suspension, everything..., whereas the Amigo was kind of a new thing for Isuzu. i would just feel MUCH more comfortable driving a Cherokee and much more trusting of whatever the road threw at me. Jeep is solid as a rock.

Thanks for the followup. I don't plan on offroad that much... maybe 3 or 4 times up a fire road to find some good camping. I need the 4 wd when it snows (here in CO) but otherwise the convertible aspect sounds good. The best thing, however, is the mileage. Anyway, thanks! I'll start searching for some jeeps.

just curious
is that the same amigo with the INCREDIBLY annoying commercial and song? |
I'm not sure. ever since I got broadband, socom online and xbox live, I don't have much use for tv.
