They’re available from CustomWheel and they’re unlike any rims we’ve seen before. Using built-in color LED lights, they can display any digital image on the wheels. Of course, none of this is too interesting unless you can see it in action. Luckily, we have a video after the jump…

damn this shit is pretty cool... make sure to watch the flash video!!!

I recall when I was younger and wanted to do a project car I wanted to make a mini truck with LED embedded in the tailgate so send messages to people.

this would be neat since it's very simple and doesn't take up a huge amount of LED space.

Of course, they should NOT be street legal... in any way shape or form.

I've never been one for flash... not in my clothes, hair, car, anything.

These just look silly to me.

I am much more a fan of understated beauty and clean lines. Bling? No thank you.

I can see those being used for show vehicles and whatnot, but I'm sure there are laws to keep these off the streets

EDIT: cool anyway though

I think the technology is pretty cool, but I don't see any of those in my future.

It would be pretty cool if you had animated wheels, but just having pictures doesn't do it for me.

Very cool. I know a few of my friends who'll be drooling at the prospect of having these.

The marketing/advertising guys are going to have a field day with these.

it reminds me of those clocks that have the LED wand that waves back and forth with the time on it... very cool technology though, that it can keep the image stationary even with accell and decelleration.

i also think they would only have their best (or most legal) use on a show car, except a show car just stands still, and the faster you are going, the better these look. sitting still they are pretty worthless.

Very cool, but totally inappropriate for the street so I expect to see it on the street any day now.

If we take this "one step" farther, I can image that one day soon the entire outside surface of the car will be an active LED screen and with a camera on each side projecting the image from that side to the LED "screen" on the opposite side, the effect would be a totally invisible car. Now that I'd go for.

I just realized. Get those wheels, a black Countach, and some blue neon strips, and you can make Automan's car
