what car to buy

Im looking for a sporty good looking car with hopefully a decent amout of balls under the hood. With about 7000 to spend it'll have to last me through college. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Loud_TIGER 06-05-2003 10:36 PM

are you looking for a domestic car or an import?

thadon 06-06-2003 05:45 AM

how about a E30 BMW ... like a 1990 325IS. It is a 6 cylinder & there are plenty of aftermarket parts available & it is in your price range

Not enough info. Front wheel drive or rear wheel drive? 2 or 4 door? There's lots of "sporty" cars out there. How about the MK 3 (second last generation) Supra?

There are many good used cars for 7 grand the question is what type of car??

Sedan,coupe,American,import,etc....give us some more deatails:)

hahaha 06-06-2003 08:56 AM

im kinda leaning toward import, but i want something new enought to last me 4 years with little maintenance costs

I'm not sure how much the average is, but I've seen early 3rd-gen RX-7's go for around 5-7k. The turbo models have a good amount of power, and a rotary engine will last a long time if you take good care of it. Make sure the previous owner took good care of it.

Nissan 300 zs with the T-tops are cool. Also volkswagen corrados are nice. I personally like BMWs, but the insurance as a student is kind of high.

Go get yourself a nice used Acura. See if you can find an old Legend Coupe 89 or 90. They look good and as long as you keep them serviced on a regualr basis they will run forever.

ElwoodBlues 06-06-2003 11:02 PM

i dont know what you should get, but definately stay away from like, 87 cadillac eldorados ;)

Rippley 06-07-2003 01:03 AM

VW Golf VR6. If the previous owner took care of it, it should fit the bill. I have no idea what the pricetag is, but its a V6 engine in a tiny package, so it can't be all wrong... Oh, and I agree with elwoodblues43, stay away from the caddy's.

m0j0 06-07-2003 03:38 AM

bump for the 300zx ..

DEI37 06-07-2003 04:31 AM

I'd look at the 300Z TT, or even the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. Some Camaros and Firebirds can be had for that price as well. Good luck!

goaterizer 06-10-2003 06:08 PM

ive never seen a VR-4(which is an all-wheel drive, twin turbo car) for 7 grand or less... that was not broken or on its way to being broken......i just checked Kbb.com and they said the oldest vr4s which is a 91 with standard options was 9,5000

I wasn't completely nice so part of my post was edited

easy no children....lay off the strong talk. We don't need another car debate of name calling. That never ends peacefully.

How much are 240sx's going for these days? RWD, decent power, lots of aftermarket.

goaterizer 06-11-2003 03:20 PM

darn edits

Loud_TIGER 06-12-2003 09:59 PM

240sx

If you live in the USA I suggest an American car, it's better than supporting the people who let the 15G's float out of the US economy into Japan's just so a bunch of Japanese guys can have more Sushi with dinner.

And there are plenty of American decent performers out there.
