~Tears of Pride~

Deep within my womb you moved,
And my life forever changed.
Entering with a demanding wail,
Silenced on my chest, the bond was sealed.
Staring in wonder at the miracle of you,
Tears of pride stream down my face.

Soon giggles and mumblings fill our home,
As you have discovered your voice.
Your first word spoken as you cried,
Your small voice saying, “mum mum mum.”
I pick you up to comfort you,
Tears of pride stream down my face.

As you stand on your unsteady legs,
You reach for me and take your first step.
Before long, you are running about,
Darting through playgrounds in playful chase.
Then you walked into your first class room,
Tears of pride stream down my face.

Days turn to years and you have grown,
You are fifteen and you have discovered love.
You release your heart only to have it broken,
In my arms, you cry with all you have.
With each day, you recover and make it through,
Tears of pride stream down my face.

Your quick wit and magnetic charm,
Brings joy and laughter all around you.
Your thirst for knowledge is abundant,
You educate your mind in eager strides.
In your cap and gown, you graduate with honors,
Tears of pride stream down my face.

Boot camp takes you from home for the first time,
And college campus enters your daily life.
Juggling both worlds of Army and school,
A shining success in all you chose to do.
You are now a grown man, serving our country,
Tears of pride stream down my face.

Just beautiful Angel! You brought a little lump to my throat and tear to my eye. I have experienced tears of pride without knowing their name....thank you my friend!
