Dinner table graces Glassware and beverages Cascade to the floor Bend to reach and chairs collapsing Over the edge Darkness encompassing A truth of sorts - is only lies Blinking secondsminutes Measuring this routine existence Telephone cards, hours spent wasting Loving only her, but for why A broken-hearted nightmare Killer insomnia A keyboard to prop you up With guitar pick in hand Music to drown the voices Sleep will befriend all A warm pillow, so comforting It kills you, see Last edited by aiwapla; 06-11-2003 at 01:03 PM.. |

Took a drive, last night
Get my mind off on Dark green honda pain killers Swallowed down, gulping saliva Wheel turned without thought Left here past shiny plastic Shutters and sandbox creatures Remnants of a time when Eyes were blind And everything lasted forever Round every bend is your face Memories rich and livid Golden blond and vanilla cream Arms entwined like puzzle pieces Why blink when eyes don’t see What’s really there A tear slips past, Paints a line down my face Slow at first, as if sadness is timid Quickly though, he finds courage For countless minutes, control is flown While I taste salty wetness Wipe away stinging reminders Of what might have been ~aiwapla |

I like both of these...but I REALLY like the second one.
Perhaps due to understanding. Great job. I hope you post more. ![]()

Thanks for the positive response=) Here's another, by request.
They speak in riddles Twisted fragments Beautiful and paper thin Guilty as it feels to need I love the way the light reflects Her face, hands, eyes But then I wake, shivering Alone in that darkness I’m in too deep I lost sight of her Like foggy autumn mornings Reach out to touch But know that truth Is only hanging heads And sleepy afternoons Sinking ships Hitting bottom ~aiwapla |

The cityscape dreams silently Wishes silently For it all to wash away Melting into puddles Along the crowded street The concrete sighs Car exhaust and newspaper stands Graffitied brick walls Shuttersclotheslinesfactories Harboring the silent dreamers Beauty in those tiny buildings Is it blindness or simplicity Rain storms in sweltering heat Lightning cracks the sky Streetlights blaze and sirens scream Rainfall floods the gutters Open your eyes and feel Street signs like a parent’s wisdom Turn off at this exit It’s time you went home Behind those brick walls The puddles and Working class There is a truth |

Here's another..
Wandering, aimlessly Along pavement and medians Whiteconcrete andyellowlines Go here, not there Boundaries enclose me Like chain link fences It’s 40 degrees in June I’m failing to see the brighter side Things don’t always fall into place Sometimes we all need room to grow I feel so little in here Like I’m not meant for this I don’t understand why it’s important Not much is anymore She was, I guess Just a beautiful face in the crowd A little something more than others I miss her, sometimes When I feel alone (I’m always alone) With her I was never alone Blond hair and a smile To bring me hope I guess everything has its time Reconciliation- for fools maybe Am I a fool? For falling in love It’s so misleading She was misleading What I’d give to have her back… Green fields whispering in a cool breeze A red orange sunset in July Lying next to her Sharing warmth and something deeper Love--But not on rainy days Watching the dim orange moon rise I’d stay all night, if she wanted ~aiwapla |

Outside the rain, like lead
Water droplet bullets Crashing into darkened skylights Blankets pulled tighter round his face TVs mocking tone - “Downpours today,” Weathermen predicting the steep decent Twisting and turning Thick cotton, the last hope against his mind Defenses finally fall into place Sleep wipes away the pained expression ~aiwapla |
