Have a pain spreading in my hand.
Hey guys. Just a quick question:
The knuckle closest to my finger tip on my right-hand's middle finger was sore about three days ago. It didn't hurt much and I figured I had maybe just jammed it or something. Today I awoke and the pain has spread. Now when I raise, and especially lower my finger into a fist, pain spreads down that finger into my hand and goes as far back as my wrist. It's locally-specific in that it follows the path along the finger. Poking around on my hand doesn't really hurt, however in the dead-center of my palm there's a sore spot when I press on it. I figure it just might be a random growing pain but I wanted to quickly ask if anyone thinks it's worth getting checked out. Thanks for any info guys. -T |
there's not always much that can be done for fingers, hands, and feet, but it could be many things - my honest opinion is that its better to get it checked out, and either have a false alarm or know what you're deal with, than to let it fester and possibly make it worse in the long run. Something that might have happened is if the metacarpal bones at the base of your fingers got shifted for some reason, that could be pinching the nerve on that finger. That would be one explanation of the sore spot in the palm and the individual finger. I am not sure if that is something that can be fixed, or even if that is truely the cause, but just throwing that out as food for thought. Long story short, IMO - get it looked at if the pain is still there after 3 days.

Yes. What could it hurt?

Cool, thanks a lot for the advice. I'll look into getting an appointment if it's still bothering me tomorrow.
