Shampoos and Soaps

Hey guys,

I am looking for recomendation on bubbly stuff - no, nothing alcoholic :|

Good soaps and/or body washes.
Good shampoos.

I wan't to get clean, I am active, I sweat often.
I wan't to smell good.
I have good skin and hair so I don't need anything specific but softer is better right :D

(advice from girls is especially appreciated when it comes to scents)

Thanks!

Well when it comes to smelling nice, Axe has a line of shower gels that smell very yummy. :D Since you said you don't need any particular needs in your soap other than to get clean and smell good, I think that's the one for you! For shampoo, something basic like Suave should be sufficent; it's cheap and has a variety of smells to choose from and does the job for good old normal hair. Hope that was helpful. :)

Suave Coconut is an AWESOME smell - turns me on :D

For the softness, any bodywash that is an exfoliator is going to remove the dead skin on your body, making your skin feel softer. Bath and Body Works has a line of products for men - check them out and see if there's any you like.

Not all soaps clean the same.

I recently tried four differnt soaps and actually paid attention to the results. Zest, Irish Spring, Ivory and some other one (the name washed off the bar).

Zest is the worst soap. It doesnt wash me at all, I still smell of BO after I get out of the shower...no good. Most body washes I tried don't get me as clean as I like. Generally the better they smell the less they clean..go figure. Irish Spring is okay, I don't really like it for some reason. Dove is great but those bars literally melt away, so it's not good value, perhaps I should get their body wash (if they have it). Now I tried this other soap in the shower I've been using to wash my hands/face with and it's great!...dont know the name though.

I suppose I should mention that I do wear colognes. I do like that fresh out of the shower smell :D but fragrance isn't that important.

for soap I would use dove or ivory, since it isnt very chemically...
Like Mantus said... Ive also read this somewhere before... If it has a scent to it, it isnt as good. dont worry about scent, just use an aftershave.
Shampoo, I would reccemend Redken(sp?) You'll have to get it at a salon, I use their sham, cond, and hair paste 12
Im male, I know you wanted female perspectives, but i do research on what I use, and used to have bad skin so I did my research.
Oh PS. sometimes I use dove exfoliating shower cream...
and for really soft skin use body butter.

I don't know if it'd be something you'll be into, but I LOVE Skin Diver body wash from Origins.

It's got an active charcoal base, which is supposed to help keep skin clear, and if I remember correctly it's got a slight exfoliating effect. The scent is unique: very organic, with spice and clove tones. It's worth checking out.

Ohhh, sounds grrrreat!

I'm gonna investigate this. In depth. :suave:

Sultana: It is great! :) It's a bit of an indulgence, but I think it's worth it. In the past few years I started using good quality products on my face and hair and I've definitely noticed a difference!

FYI, Origins actually has a full line of active charcoal products, including a facial mask that I use from time to time (can't remember the name). The ones I've been able to use so far have all been great (that goes for all Origins stuff, not just the bodywash and mask).

edit: Mantus, I saw you mention Dove bodywash. They do indeed make a line of bodywash. I'm using their gentle exfoliating one right now, since I'm not able to get to the Origins store (3 hour drive). It's a good body wash, but I've found that it leaves a heavy residue in my shower, for some reason. The exfoliating beads don't dissolve, and it seems any bit of body wash the falls from the cloth/sponge/myhand/etc tends to stay on the shower floor, leaving behind the blue beads and making my shower floor QUITE slick. It does do a good job of making me clean, though!

I go simple. Dove unscented bath bar with one of those loofa things for body (wife says I smell like a dad when I use it), Neutrogena Clean Replenishing moisturizing shampoo, Neurtogena face scrub on shave days (I only shave 3-4 times a week), and Neutrogena deep clensing face wash on non shave days.

As far as smell, I go Safari by Ralph Lauren, but only for special occasions. I like to just smell like me most of the time.

colognes are overrated. i haven't smelled a good one on a guy in a long time. i loved to steal my ex's Bergamot Body Wash from The Body Shop. just to smell it, not to use it. :D yummy... it attracts the ladies.

Axe is what I have been using. They have new scents. My wife bought by a body wash/deodorant/body spray combo. It smells good but does not last a real long time. I am thinking about trying something else that has a longer lasting scent.

Check out the large soap bars at Whole Foods. They suds up very well, smell nice but the smell doesn't stay very long. You just smell clean.

I use the Noxema face products for men...regulat face wash and the exfoiate. Finish with Mary Kay moisturizer that has no smell.

Lynx shower gels (think they're called axe everywhere else) are the NUTS, especially the green one, mmm.

Aussie make really good shampoos and conditoners. My hair has been a pain in the ass all my life, but my hairdresser recommended it a few months back, and its never been better, despite that sounding like an advert, lol.
