I need travel help. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all,

I want to take my 10yr old daughter to mexico just after Christmas. I have been shopping, but the prices are all about $2800.00 for 5 days 4 nights.
My goal is, the Riviera Maya, or playa del Cramen. She wants to swim with dolphins and climb the Mayan Pyramids.
We want to be on a beach with great snorkeling, and close enough to the other attrations that we could do day trips all over the region.

So, what I'm looking for is advice on these resorts, and a good travel agent at a good price.

So, if you have stories you would like to share about the region, or a great travel agent. Please help.

I'm running out of time, and can only afford about $2000.00. Please let me know if you think this is to much to expect.

I will await your learned respose. Feel free to PM me.

Thanks

Are you a member at Costco?

On the website they had a special for the Riviera (not including airfare) thru Dec 20 for 5 nights at $632 a person.

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...ath=1133*2552*

Airfare is bookable for an additional fee - but it looks like it might be a good place to start if you call the reservations number

Call 1.877.849.2730

and see if they have anything in your time window. The membership fee is like $40 here, so even if you are not a member, that extra bit still might save you a good deal. My parents arranged a cruise through Costco and said it was a great deal.

Thanks all, I will try your suggestions.

I would still like an agent, tough.
So keep them coming

have you tried www.aavacations.com or unitedvacations.com -- they usually have some pretty good deals for all inclusive vacations.

Or if you have an Amex Card... they do travel planning as well...

I'd also check the travel section of the Sunday paper... I know the NY Times lists a ton of stuff, I'd imagine the Philadelphia papers do as well..

but they primarily do Italy -- and not Mexico...

you could also try www.funjet.com - they have vacation packages to Cancun/Riveria Maya as well -- but without having exact dates makes it difficult to price

and www.ata.com -- though their flights out of philly are limited, NY/Newark are only an hour from you -- you might consider that as an alternate airport.

We always start with Expedia,Flyi, travelocity, etc. and see what specials they are running. I know it is personal preference, but I would probably see what the best international specials are, and go to the one with the best special. I have seen 4 nights in London + airfaire + transfers for only $299 / person! I can promise you as good of a time in London as Mexico.

Isn't that area totaly wiped out right now from the hurricane?

If it is, it should be really cheap right now.

Ya, thats the area that got hit by one of the hurricanes.

I don't know about travel agents...but I just found several flights from Philly to Cancun with all inclusive stays for 1000-1100 per person on Cheaptickets.com. One of the hotels was Dreams, there is a Dreams hotel in Puerta Vallarta, and when hubby and I took a tour we passed by the hotel, which was absolutely gorgeous on the outside.

I would try a lot of the tourist places suggested. Also, I wanna suggest that you are very careful in keeping track of your daughter. Make sure she wears appropriate clothing (no skirts, etc) because when I was younger (around 12) I went to Mexico with my parents, and because I was immediately labelled as a tourist, I had Mexican men trying to grab me (no joke).
